(Y/N)'s POV

The sun shined through the seams of the clouds up above. Spots of light danced along the ground. Edward would probably be on one of his trips for this.

But Edward was here. He stood on one of the grassy sections blocked off in the parking lot. His eyes watched my car as I pulled into a space.

Has he been waiting for me? Should I go over to him? I wouldn't know what the protocol for a situation like this would be. Ignore his new behavior or join him on that grassy median to ask.

I took the latter. "Edward?" Stepping on the ledge to the grass where he stood. "What's going on?"

"Come with me...into the forest." He held his hand out to me for me to take. It felt like I was making a big decision if I took his hand. Would it be a mistake? I'll find out.

His hand felt icy cold to the touch like I stuck my hand in the freezer for a long time. Almost numbing and painful to hold onto it. He led me away from the parking lot into the woods.

There isn't any way to turn back now, passing the outskirts of the forest. He didn't utter a single word as we reached deep into the woods.

"Is this so you can tell me something?" I tried to get an answer from him, but he just kept trudging forward.

Until he stopped. He finally turned back to face me. "There is something you know about me."

Dread trickled into my veins at those seven words. I know what he's talking about already. The mystery about what he is. Is he human? Or something close enough to pass?

"I don't know..." Not exactly the truth or a lie either muttered softly. Like if I raised my voice any higher, he would strike out against me.

"Yes, you do." He stayed firm with it.

"I don't know entirely." I kept to my truth. I have not a clue what he is for sure. It's just not human, close but far.

"Tell me what you know." His voice was low too as if they could hear from the parking lot. A tinge of anger coiling and spreading like wildfire in his voice.

"You're cold, fast, and strong. You told me that you could read minds. I don't know what you are, but it's not human." My heart picked up the pace, not looking into his eyes.

"I am something different, a monster."  His face lowered near mine, trying to catch my eye. He stood so close to me, I could feel the cold of his skin.

"How so?" It might have been nowhere close to smart for me to say that. I knew that seconds after saying it out loud. He showed me that.

In the blink of an eye, he disappeared from in front of me. Gone to somewhere far away before stopping next to a tree. He was just a blur.

"You couldn't run from me!" His voice spit anger for something. But I knew it was not for me, for himself. He didn't want to be this way, I guess.

I just know that anger wasn't for me. It didn't stop me from being scared all the same. He should me I can't run just now, but I desperately want to. To think this started because Mr. Scott wanted us to play songs and get along.

"I'm too strong for you!" He grabbed hold of a root to a larger stump. Yanking it up from its dirt confines, and throwing it over my head. Dirt rained down over my shoulder.

He came in front of me with his inhumanely fast speed. Stopping not far in front of me, as close as before.

"I could kill you. I have wanted to drink your blood for the last drop you have. Your smell drives me to do this." His anger blooms further and further. "You should be scared."

"You haven't drank my blood yet. I'm not scared that you would. I don't think you would do it." I kept the tremble out of my voice, the best I could. My heart raced with my lie faster than Edward. I am scared.

He stepped away from me. Separating himself from me, to go to a clearing. I could only see his back, his arms slowly moving, working on something.

Stopping in the patch of light, turning to his side. His skin sparkled and shined in the sunlight. His skin reflected the light like diamonds in the sun.

"I'm a monster." His eyes showed despair. It seemed theatrical in the way he showed his shine. His face and most of his torso's front.

"Get out of the sun, Edward. You're not a monster per se." I folded my arms over my chest. It could almost be comedic in the change of anger to whatever this is. "You have restraint, so you are good, believe it or not."

He sauntered over to me, buttoning his shirt. His attitude simmered down from before.

"So you're a vampire?" My heart slowed back to its slow rhythmic thump.

"Yes," His eyes followed the trees. We started to take a hike of sorts, discussing this all.

"How do you not just drink my blood? If I'm as tempting as you say." I couldn't shake that question since the reveal.

"I'm like a vegetarian." His eyes wandered the sky as if it held what to say next.

"How do you do that? Blood isn't a plant or something."

An amused smile bloomed on his face. "I drink animal blood. It's not as satisfying, but it works."

"Oh, and everyone else is too? The rest of the Cullens?" It has an obvious answer, I know, but I wanted to be sure about it.

"Yes, they are too." He nodded along.

"So this what the trips are? Hunting? You were hungry?" It felt like the last piece of a puzzle clicked in my mind.
