(Y/N)'s POV
Tears streamed down my face in a steady stream. Frustration stirred around like a bottomless pit waiting to swallow me whole. My eyes squeezed shut, and with a huff, I twisted onto my side away from my phone.
Edward hasn't responded to anything that I sent since he left, like he did a disappearing act to fade in my memory. I love him, but I had no idea how much I would put up with this. He'll need to figure himself out.
Tears continued to drip from my eyes as I closed my eyes to sleep. My tears soaked into my pillow in a little puddle. Sleep didn't come easy, but I managed after an hour or two into the late night.
Morning sunlight spread over my room with warm lighting. A sunny day that, if Edward and his family were around, meant they wouldn't attend school. I hardly wanted to get out of bed.
But I pulled myself up to sit. "I need to get myself together now," I mumbled as my feet touched the cold wooden floor. It's not my fault that he's not communicating. I doubt that he even looks at them.
It didn't matter to me. I know in my head that I would say that and then be glued to my phone later. Cynthia came into the room with a grin on her face.
"Parent...(Y/N), could I go out?" She sat down on the bed with me.
"To do what?" I wiped the sleep from my eyes. She looked so excited at such an early hour.
"I wanted to hang out with Seth." She said in a sing-song voice. I never heard her voice sound like that. She must have been so smitten with him even after just a few weeks.
"
Alright, be safe." I patted her back as I told her to go. She didn't have to be told twice; papers fluttered to the floor, and the door creaked with no one in sight. She had used her vampiric speed.
"Hey, don't use that in public!" I called after her from my bed. My voice raised as loud as I could.
"Yes, Parent!" The door slammed shut after her words. If she would listen to my warning, I wouldn't know until she came back. By then, I would hope that a mob with pitchforks and torches.
I plopped onto my bed. Cynthia is out of the house, so that I couldn't do anything with her. The violin, now the violin, held so many memories that I didn't want to bear right this second.
Vague memories of him came to mind. I could remember each practice that Edward and I had together last year. Over the few months that we practiced for that prom, my feelings changed for him. Long hours were spent playing the same love songs, annoyed at him for everything that couldn't be explained. I grew feelings and confessed to him at that prom. No one could have prepared me for that.
I love playing the violin, but it made me think of Edward and how we fell for each other. At the moment, he's in a tough spot in my heart. He makes me angry with how he hasn't responded to a single thing for months now, but I love him dearly.
I should just let it go. If I were to see him again soon, I might have an argument with him. But that could be saved for another time.
This time, when I grabbed my phone, I didn't bother with Edward's number. A handful of contacts jumped out to me. Jessica and the others in a group chat that I haven't touched in a couple of weeks.
A message or two sat unread. My fingers moved quickly on the keys to ask if they wanted to hang out with me. My phone blew up with texts, starting with Mike, and then the others soon followed.
Tyler said that he would carpool with his van for everybody. Jessica and Angela threw out ideas of what to do with everybody. I couldn't help the grin growing on my lips as I watched the texts on my phone.
Once the plan was set, I slipped out of bed and got ready. They would be on my porch in ten minutes, from what they had told me. The sun got hidden behind thick grey clouds.
It looked like rain was two seconds away from pouring down. The trees were at a standstill as I watched everything from my porch. Birds chirped and sang sweet little tunes from the trees around my house.
Mother Nature has been ever-so-kind to the plants below with all the storms that have showered down in the past few days. Autumn leaves were slowly popping up in the trees. Gold, brown, and orange scattered the trees like confetti.
None of the leaves have fallen just yet, sitting amongst their green friends, waiting to drop. It's a beautiful transition from summer to fall.
Tyler's dark van came into view on the gravel path leading up to my house. Gravel crunched under his tires. Another smile came onto my face, seeing the group.
When his van stopped, I came over. "Hey," I strolled over like I had no reason to rush. Mike popped his head out of the van window.
"Hey, violin player. Ready to join us to Port Angels?" He teased me a little with that familiar nickname of his for me.
"Yeah, I'm down." I got into the van and sat next to Angela and Eric.
"It's nice to be able to hang out with you, (Y/N). It's been like forever since we last did." Jessica played with her flip phone.
"Yeah, it's been a while since we last did." I watched the many trees pass as we got off the gravel road onto the pavement.
"Don't worry about Edward. He'll probably come around." Angela told me before we stepped foot into the mall.
