(Y/N)'s POV
Weeks have passed since that accident with James. My shoulder hardly ached that much anymore, but it stayed bandaged up. My last practice with Edward is finally here.
After our practice, it will be the time for the dance. Edward and I played in our prom outfits as Mr. Scott watched on.
He kept checking out the door. Chatter and popping balloons muffled by the shut door. We have come a long way from when we first started practicing.
Keys effortlessly played each note. My violin strings gracefully sang along to Edward's elegant song. Room 11 is the start of Edward being more than this obnoxious mystery for me.
He opened doors and kept me safe many times. I felt safe with him. His mystery made sense to me now that I knew it. The secret unfolding that one day.
A gentle smile tugged at my lips as the notes to the last song played out into the air. It had been a nice calm day together. Mr. Scott wanted us to plan out the song order, so we had lunch together.
Edward stopped by my house on the way to school. He didn't carpool with the rest of his siblings like he usually did. He thought he should take me to school, considering the day. We were going to play at prom for all to hear.
I thought of Edward during this last song, a romantic melody.
"Alright, I think you two are ready and it looks ready out there. Let's get you two onto the stage." Mr. Scott broke the brief silence.
His hands clasped together, walking to the other side of the room. The lanyard he wore jingled as he walked. "We'll go through from outside so they don't see you two coming." He pushed the door open, letting us through first.
Lights decorated the trees that illuminated the ground below. Little dandelions sprouted from the ground. The night air is a little warm with the spring air.
"You ready, Edward?" I held my case in both of my hands. Sheet music pinned between my arm and body.
Bella's POV
I brushed my fingers over my purple dress, sitting down on the concrete seat outside. Light punch swayed to and fro in the bright red solo cup in my hand.
Violin and Piano music sang through the speakers to the outside world. The occasional couple danced in the grass. They laughed and had a great time.
Twigs snapped behind me, putting me on edge. I whipped over to see Jacob coming out of the forest. "Jacob, you scared me." I brushed my hair out of the way.
He wore a simple formal outfit. He looked a bit out of place. "Sorry, that wasn't my intention." A playful grin came onto his face.
"What are you doing here?" I slowly rose to my feet, meeting him halfway.
"My dad told me I should come here...to see you. Bella, I have something to ask."
"What?" He came close. My eyes found his dark brown ones. The color matched the dark wood of the forest behind him. My lip caught between my teeth.
"Will you be my girlfriend?" His hands found mine, gently holding them in his.
"Yes," I had fallen in love with him for quite some time.
We danced along to the last slow song that Edward and (Y/N) played along to. It was more comedic than romantic. We weren't all that confident about each step. It was still nice all the same.
(Y/N)'s POV
Our last song slowly ended on a peaceful note. A DJ took over for us, so we could slip away from the stage. Joining the rest of the couples and solo partygoers.
"(Y/N)," Edward caught my wrist to stop me before I got too far. "Let's go somewhere more quiet."
"Okay," I agreed to go with him. He guided me through the crowds of dancers and groups chatting to each other.
Many colors of light shined down on everyone in the dark. It felt better on my strained eyes to head outside with him. Moonlight and little white lights shimmered and shined, illuminating the little stone pathway.
Gravel crunched under our feet as he slowly guided me up to the gazebo. He helped me up the little steps to the center.
The gazebo was as large as a classroom, it seemed like. Lights wind up the pillars holding up the roof. Flowers decorated along the fence on the sides with beautiful reds, whites, and pinks. A stray couple or two danced in the gazebo too.
"May I have this dance?" He talked his age, leading me to the center. He turned back to face me, separating a little.
He sounded timid asking. His hand out to take mine. I took it and he pulled me in. We slowly swayed along to the music that came from the speakers. "Edward?"
"Yes?" His eyes caught mine. I pulled away a small bit to look into his eyes.
"I think I like you." After saying those words, I gently rested my head against his shoulder.
"Do you want to be with me?" His words gave me a little bit of shock despite I started it. My heart beating in my ears. Light embarrassment burned my face.
"Yeah, do you want to be with me?" I pulled away to look in his eye once more.
"Yes...I would like that." His eyes held on to mine for what felt like a long time. A soft smile spread on his face.
Edward Cullen is my boyfriend. My heart beating rapidly from something that wasn't from fear for once in these past few months. The mysterious lone wolf that no one was apparently good enough for is taken for.
I felt as light as a feather in that gazebo. Dancing the rest of my night away, as new lovers. Jessica is going to be so upset with me later, but I could hardly care right now.
