(Y/N)'s POV

"(Y/N)," Edward grabbed my attention from packing up my violin.

"Hmm?" I looked at him over my shoulder. He stood next to the piano, holding his sheet music.

"My family and I will be playing baseball tomorrow. I wanted to know if you would like to come." He leaned back against the piano slightly.

"Isn't it going to storm tomorrow? Like a thunderstorm?" I thought I got their odd vampire antics straight in my head by now, but that through me off. Playing baseball during a storm?

"Yeah, we need the thunder." He gave the faintest of smiles. He seemed clueless about how that could be confusing.

"Okay? Why do you want me to come along?" I pulled my case into my lap. "It's a family event. Wouldn't it be weird if I tagged along?"

"Well, since we going to play at the prom, it would be better if we bonded more." He stuck his hands into his pockets.

"Could Bella come?" He stiffened up a little at my words.

"Bella? Why should she come?" He stepped closer to me, looming over where I sat.

"I just wanted her to come along because she's one of my best friends. And one that already knows." He froze hearing me like a statue. "I didn't tell her. She connected the dots."

"Okay," He spun on his heel, stepping away from me towards the window. He struggled to say that little word.

I suppose he didn't expect to face the fact she knows anything. She had caught on with the help of Jacob to what this pale vampire was. She must have not thought of the knowledge while in class with him for him to know she knows. Or he was in intense denial about it.

"Edward," I came over to his side, looking through the window. "Humor me here. I would be more comfortable if she tagged along."

"She can come." He kept his eyes stuck to the rain slowly sliding down the glass. His next breath came shuddered.

"Okay, then I'll be happy to come along." I patted his icy shoulder before parting from him to go home.

Slipping a jacket onto my shoulders, a car horn went off outside. I quickly took a look out of my bedroom window.

Edward stood leaning against his car. Bella sat in the back of his pristine white car. Rain dripped down in heavy drops and lightning flashed in the sky. It gave everything a lighter blue tinge.

I hurried down the steps and out the door to see him. He slowly stood back up and pulled the passenger door open for me.

"Thank you." I gave a polite smile to him that he gave back. I actually felt excited to watch them play. I wondered what it would be like.

The drive was quiet and long. Many winding roads and hills to reach this large expanse field hidden by trees. The rest of the Cullens were already out there.

Some stretched and got ready while others talked to each other. But our arrival brought some of their attention to us. Edward used his vampiric speed to open my door for me.

"Well, let's get to the game." I got up from my seat along with Bella. Bella and Edward stuck close to me as we walked over to the field, Edward stayed closer.

"Hey, you were able to make it. We needed some more people." Esme's hands came to our backs to guide us off, a friendly smile in tow.

"You two could be umpires." She started to bring us to the home plate.

"She thinks we cheat." Emmett walked off to his place.

"Oh, I know you do." She talked back to him over her shoulder.

Thunder rumbled. "It's time." Alice stood on the mound in the center before lifting her leg high up and then throwing the ball.

Jasper struck the ball with a loud crack, sending it flying up almost to the clouds. Edward jumped up high into the air, snatching the ball before Jasper could get to home base.

"Wow! That was cool!" My eyes could only keep up with the ball because of everyone's speed. "Good job, Edward! And you too, Jasper!" Jasper gave a small smile heading off to the side.

Rosalie came up to bat. She got into position and Alice threw the ball in time for a thunder strike. Rosalie struck the ball and ran off.

"Good job, Rosalie!" I cupped my hands around my mouth to shout to her. I took the role of cheerleader more seriously than umpire, I guess.

Edward and Emmett rocketed into the air to get the ball. But they crashed into each other instead. The ball flew past Edward and Emmett into the forest past them.

Edward got onto his feet just a little faster and they both sprinted into the forest. The ball flew over the field before a minute could pass with a sharp whistle. Carsile caught the ball, pressing it into home place just before Rosalie could slide in.

"You're out, Rosalie. You still did amazing!" I gave her a thumbs-up. "Bella, you see it!" I turned to her.

"Mm-hmm." Following her eyes, I saw Edward on the other side of the field. Not exactly who I was talking about, but that works.

"They're here!" Alice looked back to the forest for a brief moment. Panic setting in lightly on her face.

"What? Who's here?" Panic settled with me ten-fold. If it worried them, it worried me greatly. What could scare vampires like them?

Rosalie pulled me behind her by my wrist. Her body is hunched over like she's ready to pounce on someone. Moving from foot to foot, ready to be on the move. A hand behind her back to gently but firmly hold onto mine. Her fangs were slightly barred.

Edward came behind her, wrapping an arm around my shoulders. Bella froze slightly, slowly back up. I grabbed onto her with my unoccupied hand.

The Cullens crowded around us as three people slowly joined the scene. Leisurely walking onto the field.

Carlisle led the conversation. It had been going well until the wind blew in Bella's hair. One of the men in the group straightened up a bit, catching her smell.

"You brought a snack." The man with dirty blonde hair came towards us but got stopped. The Cullens hissed and growled at the grungy man.

"Oh, another one?" He caught my eyes, and a sadistic grin played on his lips. "Now, I like that one." He raised a finger to me.

Edward growled loudly. His hold on me tightened as if I would just disappear otherwise.

"James, we should get going." The other man in the group interrupted the pony-tail-wearing man. He kept an eerie calmness to him. Not caring about his friend's behavior. I would have to guess that this is normal.
