Edward's POV

I dropped them off safe and sound at their home before going home myself. "Edward, I saw what-" Alice came over from the balcony with Jasper close in tow. I couldn't be bothered at all by it.

Storming into my room and slamming the door behind me. Those men were absolutely disgusting vermin. The epitome of vile, their thoughts and actions made me, a monster sound like a harmless little mouse.

I wish I had torn them apart limb from limb. It would certainly be a reward for humanity. But they would be scared for life for sure, and the Cullen's reputation needs to stay intact.

Them, why did I care and worry about them? It could have been a mostly quiet night here, but I heard Alice's vision.

Then I'm running for my car to get to that parking lot. Regretting not taking the life of this ignorant group of five that had nothing better to do. I would have regretted it even more if I stayed here when I could have done something.

Them being hurt worse than bruises on their knees would have killed me again. I would not know what to do. I couldn't imagine what I would have done without them in this grey, miserable, little town.

(Y/N)'s POV

My mind replayed that Saturday over and over again like an unpleasant song stuck in my head all week. I didn't expect that to be how my Saturday night to go.

It felt too weird to interact with Edward beyond what was needed since that happened. I'm thankful that he did step in before I don't know what would go down. It's just strange that he out of anybody stepped in for me.

"Hey, wanna go to La Push? It's Friday!" Eric slid into the seat next to mine at the lunch table, a comedic smile plastered onto his face. "I already asked Bella, Mike, Angela, and Jessica."

"Oh, um, sure." I slowly slipped out of my thoughts, remembering that Saturday. All the fear I felt, only to be saved by Edward Cullen. I would have to give him props for that. A little beach trip wouldn't hurt and it would be nice to get away from the stress.

"Are we going today or tomorrow?" I turned to him.

"Tomorrow," Eric glanced over his shoulder to see Tyler coming.

"And my van just got fixed! This calls for celebration!" Tyler argued in agreement. He is probably the most pumped of the group.

"Okay, don't wreck it again," Jessica added her two cents as she propped her elbows on the lunch table.

"Ow, you wound me!" Tyler jokingly held his chest in fake hurt.

Bella's POV

"Hey, Edward..." I trailed off, picking at the salad bar like he did. He was just ahead in line and I took the opportunity to ask it.

"Hmm?" He kept to his mystery boy theme.

"Do you want to go to La Push this Saturday?" Shifting my weight from foot to foot, biting down on my lip. "(Y/N) and everyone is going." I led on.

Maybe, if I dropped their name, he would want to go. I tucked my hair behind my ear, rearranging the salad that I put together.

"No, I don't like the beach." He took his tray off the cold steel table and walked away. Nonchalantly ending the short conversation there.

His head tilted to (Y/N)'s table for a small moment as he went off to his. It almost went unnoticed to me, but it was there. He looked at them as they laughed with the rest of the group.

(Y/N)'s POV

"Alright, that was very good you two!" Mr. Scott clapped his hands together for the last song we played. "I think we can say that is the end of practice for the day. Enjoy your weekend!" Mr. Scott left the room with his computer bag in tow.

"(Y/N)," Edward collected the packet of sheet music he had.

"Yeah, Edward?" I hardly looked over to him at all this practice. It almost felt too awkward too after what happened that weekend. Mentally crossing my fingers that he doesn't ask me about that.

"We should practice over the weekend. Would you like to come over?"

"No, sorry. I can't Saturday because I'm going to La Push with some friends." I gently put the violin into its case.

"We should practice, though. The prom is in three months." He refused to let go of the argument.

"I know, I think I'll be fine. This trip will help with stress, you know?" I finally gave him a passing glance, zipping up my case.

"What stress?" His brows furrowed in what I don't know if it was worry or confusion.

"You know, prom and last Saturday. The year is wrapping up, so I have papers and exams on top of that. So I got a lot going on." I rambled on in a few words.

"I need a break, okay?" I stood to my feet with all my things, leaving him behind in the classroom.

The sun slowly set in a beautiful orange, yellow, and red sea of colors behind the trees. Clouds covered up all the sunshine that could escape.

The wind gently blew by with the last bits of winter's chill. A bird or two sang a simple little song in the trees.

It felt almost insane to know that prom is only a few short months away from now. I'll play a few songs for a crowd of classmates from almost all the school years. It would be the first one, I have gone to.

And I'll play these songs with Edward's help. Edward seems to not need much more practice than I did. His skill greatly outmatched mine by a long shot.

The warm air blasted from my car's vents. Warming my skin after a few minutes of walking out of school. Its heat had been greatly appreciated.
