(Y/N)'s POV

"Thanks for your family's hospitality. It was nice to meet them." I gave Edward a glance over my shoulder as he followed close behind. He wanted to walk me to my car.

"They were excited to hear you were coming." Edward opened my door for me and I slipped into the seat.

"Well, I need to get going." I buckled in and checked my phone to see a text from Bella. But I can't respond right now, so I'll have to save it for later.

Would a call work better to respond to Bella? I wouldn't know but that's what I went with. I have things to do around the house anyway.

"Hey, Bella, I saw that you texted me. Sorry, I didn't text back. I was practicing with Edward." I said my message into her voicemail before hanging up.

Stretching my arms past my steering wheel before taking the key out. My arms ached a bit from practice. I grabbed my violin and sheet music before heading into the house.

My phone buzzed in my palm. "Hey, how are you?" I picked up the phone, balancing it between my shoulder and head. Taking the little notepad and pen to wander the kitchen.

"I'm fine....where were you?" She questioned me. Must have wondered what I had been up to, to not notice my phone.

"Well, I just got home from Edward's house." I searched the cabinets and fridge for anything, I'm out of stock of.

"So, you're dating him or something?"

"No? I'm not dating him, it was practice." Scribbling on my notepad, before leaving the kitchen.

"What was the dinner about last Friday?" She seemed to be bothered by something, but I couldn't be sure about what.

"He wanted to talk to me about something and I agreed because I wanted to talk too." My brows knitted together as this talk went on. "He told me something that I-"

"You know, I really need to go now." Before I could say anything, she hung up the phone on me.

"What the?" I couldn't be more confused, staring down at my phone. Maybe, she'll come around later. There were errands to run anyway.

Grocery shopping is the first on my list of things I need to get done. Despite not being in the house long, I was out the door once more. Turning the light on to the mini flashlight on my keyring, I navigated my way back outside.

The sky got dark early, a given for the winter season. The cold seeps into my bones from the night air. Dark blues and grey clouds surrounded the stars and silvery moon.

I pulled my coat closer to my body. The store was only ten minutes to walk to from my house, so I didn't have to drive. Just needing to make it to the street light, I turned the little flashlight off.

"Hey, you!" A gruff man's voice came from behind me.  Picking up my feet, I moved as fast as I could, crossing the street unnecessarily.

"We just want to talk with ya." A raspier voice followed. Whipping my head back I saw at least five men. One against five weren't great odds.

My heart dropped into the depths of the earth but could be heard, hammering in my ears. No longer speedwalking, I ran as fast as my feet could go. Crossing another street into a large parking lot, crashing onto my knees.

A stupid crack in the uneven pavement of an abandoned parking lot floored me. That probably caused it to be abandoned in the first place. They had the chance and took it, surrounding me in a close circle.

Knees and hands searing in sharp pain. It will probably be scraped or bruised later.  "Please, just leave me alone." I didn't know if I could find it in me to look up. Hope draining yet, clinging on to it tight like an anchor. Just hoping won't help right now will it?

"We just wanted to have fun, don't you?" Another voice spoke, one I hadn't heard yet.

A car roared in all of our eardrums, light blinding me as it came barreling toward us. The men backed away as the car ran toward them. I tried to get up and move too before it got close.

But it stopped, curiously. I just stopped there, blinded by its light. Shielding my eyes with my forearm and squinting at it.

A car door popped open and slammed shut shortly after. "Get in the car." It was a demand that I almost didn't think twice about from Edward.

He sounded so angry like a totally different person. I could almost be sure that he wasn't mad at me but at them. My knees ached but I slowly hobbled to the passenger seat.

"That was a dangerous move man." The fifth spoke of them all. I quickly closed myself into the car. My eyes watched over him, holding my breath.

He's insanely fast and strong, he could handle himself, but I couldn't know what would happen. How far would he go? Would he be outnumbered by five?

He didn't even need to move. His eyes locked on them, a handout as if to guard the car. They stood stunned as he backed into the car. I never thought this would happen.

Not a day in my teenage life thought that I was glad to be in the car of the mystery man. But here I am, in the talk of the school's car.

He sent the car charging forward, scarring them indefinitely. My mind ran a mile a minute as he whipped the car out of that lot to drive on the highway.

"I should have ripped their heads off." He grumbled with a deadly glare on the road.

"No, you shouldn't, Edward!" I quickly spat out. My heart is back in my chest now to hammer away at my ribcage like it's desperate to leave its confines.
