I felt the pain in my neck which was making me very uncomfortable but at the same time there was light breeze tickling my face which felt comfortable yet not enough to let me continue my beauty sleep. I opened my eyes only to find myself below the try with the sky above it now showcasing the shades of yellows and oranges indicating its the time for sunset. I slightly turned my head to the side only to find Kabir asleep as well with his head resting on mine while mine rested on his shoulder. He had wrapped his jacket around me and had his arm wrapped around me as well. This mere position was enough to leave me blushing. I again lifted my face to observe his. His eyes were closed but their shape was indeed attractive, they weren't siren shaped neither were they doe, a perfect combination. My sight went lower to his nose, he had a sharp, pointed and a high nose that people would die to have. Not to mention the tiny little mole on it adds to the charm. I slowly moved my finger and placed it on his mole slightly poking it to which he reacted my scrunching his nose a little. I giggled at his reaction. Cute. Then I kept tracing my fingers along his features and moved lower only to arrive at his lips. I gulped. They were soft yet looked a bit rough at the same time. They weren't exactly pink, they were a mix of brown and pink and were of the perfect shape. I kept staring at his lips for too long and didn't know how the time passed. I felt him slowly shifting his body and I knew he was gonna wake up. OH GOD!
I closed my eyes and pretended that I was still asleep to save myself from the embarrassment and felt him moving again. Looks like he's finally awake. I felt him caressing my cheek and my heart beats fastened. I am doomed. There's no way I can ignore my feelings for Kabir Sharma. I am very well and undeniably head over heels for him. Now that I think about it, I think these feelings were there since long back. It's just that I took a lot of time to realize my feelings. I could still feel his hand on my face and was trying to calm down my breathing which was far from normal. I felt a slight pat on my cheek followed by his sleepy, husky voice. God his voice! I was such an idiot to not notice that before!
KABIR: heyy panda wake up! It's getting late and we should leave for home now. Everyone will get tensed if we get anymore late.
OK! I can do this! I can wake up and behave completely normal!
After giving my self an encouraging talk in my brain, I slowly opened my eyes and looked at him only to find him already looking at me with a huge grin on his face. Didn't I tell you his smile was infectious? hence, it brought a smile on my face too. I gave him a sweet smile and lifted my head off his shoulder. I could feel a slight pain in my neck which might be due to the uncomfortable position I was sleeping in. I stretched my neck and hands a little to get rid of the pain and heard him groaning from the back as well. I turned around to look at him and found him massaging his shoulder.
KABIR: No wonder tu itne acche marks laati hai. Itna bhaari sar hai tera, poora dimaag bhara hoga.
(No wonder you score so well. You're head is soo heavy, filled with lots of brain.)
NANDINI: Tabhi mai sochu tere sar ke jagah tere ghutne bade kyu lagte hain. Lagta hai tera dimaag tere ghutno mei aagaya hai.
(No wonder your knees look huge and not your head. I think your brain has dropped to your knees.)
KABIR: Kya nalayak dost hai yaar tu! Ek toh maine itni mehnat se tera mood sahi kiya, upar se meri hi beizzati kare jaari hai.
(What an unbelievable friend you are! I worked so hard for the betterment of your mood and now you're insulting me wow!)
I laughed at his tantrums and shook my head.
KABIR: Itni mehnat agar kisi aur ladki pe karta toh patt bhi jaati.
(If I would've tried this hard for another girl then she would've become my girlfriend by now.)
NANDINI: Hann toh pata leta. Maine mana kab kiya hai?
(Yeah so you should've gone behind other girls. When did I stop you?)
I tried to say this with a smile on my face but I have no idea to what level did I succeed because my heart definately pained at the mention of any other girl.
KABIR: Dekh, jis ladki ko mai genuinely apne saath rakhna chahta hu, woh toh aukaat se bahar hai. Baaki kisi aur ladki mei meko interest hai nai. Abb bachi bass tu. Bata tu pategi? *sheepish smile*
(Look, The girl whom I genuinely want by my side is out of my reach, neither am I interested in any other girl, So that leaves you, so, will you fall for me?)
NANDINI: Mai toh kabki patt chuki hu.

I muttered slowly to make sure that he doesn't hear it.
KABIR: You said something?
NANDINI: Nope! come on let's head home! It's already too late, I think everyone must be worried.
KABIR: I had texted mom, she would've informed in your home don't worry. We'll go home now.
I nodded my head and got up and forwarded my hand towards which he held for support and got up as well. We started walking towards our home and the journey was filled with same stupid talks, jokes bickering and everything else.
TIME SKIP
MIDNIGHT
NANDINI'S POV:
Right now I am in my bedroom with my face buried in my pillow. Why? well because if someone sees the horrendous huge smile plastered on my face then they would call me a freak for sure. My overly jolly behaviour was enough to put my family dilema. The thing that shocked them the most? well that I had messed up my test yet I was so happy.
Yeah, well coming to the test, as expected, they took it lightly enough and told me to not think about it much as they believe that I'll do much better in the next test and I know that I sure as hell will! I might have discovered these new set of feelings inside me but nothing related to that is going to subdue my studies or my dream. In fact, now that I have things crystal clear in my brain, I can concentrate on my studies more!
I was replaying today's scenes again and again in my head and kept grinning like a fool when I heard the phone ringing and my grin went wider when I looked at the caller Id. It was him. eeeeehh!!!
I picked up the call and tried to sound as normal as possible.

KABIR: asleep?
NANDINI: yeah, its my ghost that's speaking to you.
KABIR: Sheesh always have to be so savage.
NANDINI: *chuckle* I love roasting you.
KABIR: oh come on, don't I know it?
NANDINI: of course you do! So, why did you call this late at night?
KABIR: why? can't I?
NANDINI: of course you can! I just wanted to know why.
KABIR: umm, I just wanted to check up on you. How's everything at home? you told them about the test?
Now this is why I think I like Kabir sharma. His constant effort to make sure I am doing fine. I mean, who wouldn't like this guy?
NANDINI: Yep! they were pretty chill as expected hehe.
KABIR: see?! I told you it's going to be fine. You didn't have to cry a river.
NANDINI: yeah you were right.
No one spoke for some time yet the silence didn't feel uncomfortable. But the urge to listen to his voice made me utter the next words.
NANDINI: Kabir?
KABIR: hmm?
NANDINI: thank you so much for today. Not only today, but for everything you've done for me till date. I know I don't say this a lot but you're really precious for me and I can't lose you.
KABIR: Arre isme thank you kaise? Pakki waali yaar hai tu meri! Tere maangne pe seene se dil nikaalke hateli pe rakhdunga tere, bas maangna matt hehe.
(Heyy you don't have to thank me for this. You're my best friend, I would even rip my heart off my chest and place it on your palm, just don't ask for it hehe)
We both laughed at his silly comment but I can't refuse to admit that the butterflies in my stomach did summersaults at this statement. We spoke for some more time and ended the call as I was feeling sleepy. I looked at our pic that I had on my phone and smiled like fool. Soon I drifted off to my dreamland with the assurance of dreaming about sweet nothings with my mr. best friend.
TIME SKIP
NEXT MORNING IN THE SCHOOL CANTEEN.
NANDINI'S POV:
All of us are in the canteen as it was our lunch break. Karthik and Maahi were at the counter to bring something for all of us to eat, Shanvi was not visible anywhere and I don't know why and me? I was simply watching Kabir and smiling like a fool while he was just fooling around with Gaurav as usual. I was in my own world when I heard someone whispering in my ears.
??: watching kabir?
I was too busy to notice who that was or what they were asking
NANDINI: mhmm
??: he's cute, isn't he?
NANDINI: he definately is.
??: and he cares for you?
NANDINI: a lot!
??: you like spending time with him?
NANDINI: only with him.

NANDINI: *sigh* A lot!
As soon as I realized what had left my mouth, I hear a loud squeal beside me and when I turned my head, I found Shanvi dancing like a fool while sitting on the chair beside me.
SHANVI: Oh my god! I can't believe this! you finally-
I placed my palm on her lips and signalled her to shut her mouth with my eyes. She did the action of zipping her mouth after which I let her go. I found Gaurav and Kabir looking at as if we are crazy but I told them its nothing and asked them to continue with whatever the hell they were doing which they clearly obeyed to.
NANDINI: I swear to god Shanvi! not even a single soul should learn about this!
SHANVI: Oh god I am so excited I don't know how long will I able to keep this as a secret. But I promise I won't open my mouth unless you tell me to.
NANDINI: good for you!
SHANVI: But that doesn't mean you can stop me from interrogating you! I need details.
I gave her a shy smile and explained everything about how I had realized I had feelings for him and she kept squealing like a fangirl that she is.
SHANVI: Oh god! I am soo going to ship you both once you're a real couple.
NANDINI: That, you already do!
SHANVI: but still, I'll ship you more..!!
I chuckled at her behaviour, but still there was something that was eating me away from the inside.
NANDINI: but shanvi? Kabir likes Mihika, and that too from so many years. What if he doesn't have any feelings for me?
SHANVI: Are you out of your mind? That's just a mere crush! and you yourself told me that he likes since so many years, yet has he made any move? or has he received any response from the other side?
I slowly shook my head negatively.
SHANVI: exactly! you see, nandu he spends almost the entire day with you and cares for you like he cares for no one else. Mihika is just a mere crush, at the end, he'll end up with you. I mean come on all of us can see that. You guys are made for each other.
I blushed and turned to look at Kabir and found him looking at me already. Our eyes met and he winked at me and I turned my head to prevent him from seeing me blushing.
SHANVI: see! girl trust me! he likes you too! It's just that, he needs to realize he's serious about you too and then everything else will be in place.
I bit my lower lip and slowly nodded at her.
We were busy in our daily chatter but our table fell completely silent. I mean the literal pin drop silence when we saw someone approaching us.
THE MIHIKA AGARWAL.
She had a smile on her face which is not usual and I don't know why but I could feel my heart sinking. Shanvi held my hand under the table and gestured me that it was nothing and I smiled at her, though I was still nervous.
She slowly went towards Kabir who was now a blushing tomato just by looking at her and My heart sank deeper.
MIHIKA: heyy there! Kabir Sharma right?
Kabir immediately stood up like a love sick puppy and nodded his head continously.
MIHIKA: Hii! this is Mihika agarwal.
She forwarded her hand for a handshake and he accepted it with a huge smile on his face and I felt a pang in my heart.
I could here Shanvi muttering in my ear,
SHANVI: she's just a crush. Relax.
No matter who would tell me to relax, I can't. Ever since I had seen her in the studio that day, I had this uneasy feeling settled somewhere deep within me that has resurfaced now. I looked at both of them smiling at each other while talking and I could feel tears building up in my eyes.
God, just please don't snatch him from me. I cannot live without him.
I don't know where things were going from now on, but I hope that none of us is hurt. ________________________________________________________________________________
