Ellie would be lying if she said she wasn't afraid. Sweat collected in her palms as her breathing turned heavy, the harsh wind and rain crashed against the window, creating an even louder noise inside her bedroom. Her hands shook with fear as she squinted her eyes shut tightly - desperately trying to sleep.

Flashbacks from that day replayed and replayed in her head. The voice of her younger sister calling out for her echoing in her ears. Why did it have to rain on that day? She used to love the rain and found it relaxing, and now it's her biggest fear.

Her phone vibrated on her bed side table causing her eyes to open and her hand to reach out to grab it. A smile of relief perked up on her face at the contact name.

Jungwon 🐱
Are you ok? How is the storm
by you?

Ellie 💫
I'm okay, the storm is terrible by me. I hate it sm.
Wbu?

Ellie watched the boy begin typing before completely disappearing. The smile washed off her face and turned into a confused frown, did he just leave her of read? Being the over thinker that Ellie was, she thought only the worst. Did he find her annoying? Was he bored of her? Did he just not want to speak?

She let out a huff and rolled out of bed, deciding a glass of water was what she needed - secretly hoping that by the time she returned to her room, he would've messaged back. Ellie lazily walked down the grey carpeted stairs and yawned as she entered the kitchen - beginning to grab a glass.

She wanted to do nothing more than to sleep, but her body just wouldn't let her and her mind wouldn't shut off for her to do so. The sound of thunder striking made her body jolt and her heart stop for a moment, her breathing returning to his previous rabid pace.

She hated this. She hated the rain and she especially hated thunder. But most of the all, she hated being ignored. Jungwon leaving her on read was something else to add to her list of running thoughts that were desperately trying to keep her awake and stop her from sleeping.

A loud banging sound echoed through the house as she snapped her head towards the direction of the door. Had a tree fallen onto her front porch? Was someone knocking on the front door? She has no idea but hated the anticipation it gave her.

Once she approached the door, she peered through the window beside it and her eyes almost shot out of her head. "Jungwon!" She gasped while flinging the door open.

Rain drenched his hair and soaked through his clothes. The wind fearlessly blew her hair back as she stayed staring at the boy. "Why are you here?" She worried and gently pulled the boy inside the house and shut the door behind him, the water running off his clothes and onto the wooden floor.
