Chapter 22

"Are you okay?" Jillian whispered as we went downstairs.

I force myself to smile. "Yeah, I am.. and will be okay for the rest of the day."

Jillian side hugged me when we reach the final step of the staircase. "You should, it's your birthday."

"I'm really touched that you traveled from Guzview to Summerside just for my birthday." I stated as we go to the living room.

"Of course! I'm your best friend... and I know that you need your best friends right now." Jillian looked around. "Will Benny come?"

I swayed my head. "He can't come. He just gave me this as an advance gift."

I showed Jillian the bracelet Benjamin gave me. She smiled as she made me turn around facing the front door.

The door opened and Benjamin showed up on the door step with a bouquet of pink peonies.

"Happy birthday, Iris!" He exclaimed.

"Benny!" I exclaimed as I ran towards him. "You said that you're not coming on my birthday."

Benny smiled. "How can I not be in your birthday, Iris."

The three of us went to the kitchen as I happily hold the pink peonies. Benjamin helped Jayse at the backyard preparing the tables while Jillian helped mom preparing the food.

I took a vase on the island counter as I decided to put the pink peonies inside, to show off its beauty.

I was busy cutting the stems when my phone chimed.

[Happy Birthday, love.] Sebastian stated as I answer the call.

"Thank you, lover."

[I'm here outside.] He added.

I ended the call as I walk towards the main door. When I open the door, Sebastian stood there holding a bouquet of pink peonies too.

"You're here," I stated.

"I am." Sebastian answered.

I raise my head to meet his eyes. He smiled when we got an eye contact and he then opened his arms for me.

I can't help it.

I went towards him and gave him a hug. He hugged me back and tears pooled from the corner of my eye. I was feeling happy and blue at the same time. Happy, that I miss Sebastian but blue because the thought of him lying to me, lingers in my head.

Sebastian loosen his hug to face me. He smiled when we meet eye to eye.

"Are you crying?" Sebastian stated when he noticed my eyes teary.

I swayed my head, smiling as I bury my face on his chest.

"I just miss you,"

I invited Sebastian to come inside and when we went to the kitchen. They all looked at us.

"Porsche guy!" Jillian exclaimed. "It's good you're here,"

"Sebastian, hi!" Mom greeted.

"Seb," Jayse greeted as he passes by.

Benny timidly smiled at Sebastian as he passes by going out towards the backyard.

Sebastian was looking around while I make myself busy looking for another vase to put Sebastian's flower.

"Oh, there's already pink peonies." Sebastian uttered.

"Yeah, Benny gave it." I answered.

After we had finished setting up the tables and chairs outside, the six of us gathered at the backyard to have a lunch.
