Chapter 13: Sweet Revenge

"Yes!" Mitch cheered as the nail finally cut through the tape on his wrists and he ripped it off. He stood up and walked over to Joey who leaned forward so Mitch could unwrap his wrists. Once he got the tape off him Joey rubbed his wrists and winced as the tape had taken off a bunch of skin.

"Thanks." He mumbled and Mitch smiled at him. "Won't they be pissed that you did that though?" He asked a little worried. Mitch scoffed.

"Probably, but it's not like we can do anything or get out right?" He reasoned and this time Joey shrugged but Mitch could tell how scared he was. He sighed and looked around trying to find something to entertain himself with, but there was literally nothing in the room except them. Mitch slid down against the wall and looked again at Joey. He had his knees pulled to his chest and his chin rested on them. He looked like a frightened child to Mitch. Mitch decided to do the only thing that he could to calm Joey down, sing.

"If you want it, take it, I should have said it before." Mitch started singing softly and Joey turned to watch him.

"Try to hide it, fake it, I can't pretend anymore.

I only wanna die alive, never by the hand of a broken heart.

Don't wanna hear you lie tonight, now that I've become who I really am...

This is, the part where I say I don't want ya I'm stronger than I've been before.

This is, the part where I break free, cause I can't resist it no more....."

Joey relaxed, closing his eyes and listened to the sound of Mitch sing softly. His voice was like an angel and it made Joey forget how much trouble they were in, which is why Mitch started singing in the first place. Joey opened his eyes as Mitch sang the last few notes, which were flawless and he smiled. He'd only heard Mitch sing a few times but every time he did hear him he got goosebumps. Mitch looked over at Joey who was smiling at him and blushed. "I swear every time I hear you sing it gives me goosebumps." Joey said making Mitch laugh. "It's true I swear!" He insisted. Mitch shrugged and stood up to stretch his legs. He wasn't sure how long it had been since they were put in here, and there were no windows so he didn't know if it was dark or light out. Joey stood up and also looked around the empty cell of a room they were in. "I wonder where we are. It seemed like we drove for quite a while didn't it?" He pondered.

"Yeah I guess so...I wasn't really paying attention though." Mitch admitted. Before their conversation could finish they heard heavy footsteps coming towards the door and Joey stepped back behind Mitch obviously afraid of whoever was coming. "Just relax, it'll be ok." Mitch whispered and Joey nodded to him. They heard the key in the door and a second later the door flew open. There stood Brett with the same big guy they saw before, the one with the cast, and Brett looked pissed. He lunged forward and grabbed Mitch pulling him towards him.

"Hey!" Joey started to say but the big guy behind Brett grabbed him and held him back. Joey knew better than to fight back and so he stayed silent and watched Brett as he backhanded Mitch across the face and let him fall. Mitch put his hand to his swollen cheek and glared up at Brett who didn't seem satisfied with only hitting Mitch once.

"Your boyfriend is pissing me off!" Brett growled and Mitch couldn't help the smile that graced his lips which pissed Brett off more. He grabbed Mitch again and yanked him up slamming him against the wall. "What the hell are you smiling at?!" He yelled. Mitch wasn't afraid of him, especially seeing Brett this way. The guy was freaking out because Scott wouldn't do what he said.

"What's the matter Brett? You're plan not going the way you wanted it?" He asked; his voice sassy and mocking.

"You little bitch!" Brett sneered and Mitch braced himself for what he knew was about to happen. Brett's fist raised and Joey felt like it was slow motion as it came back down and hit Mitch perfectly in the mouth. Mitch was on his knees and Brett picked him up and punched him again. Joey flinched as Mitch landed hard on his shoulder, spitting out a mouthful of blood. Brett's fist was raised again and Joey couldn't stand back at watch this.

"Stop! Leave him alone!" Joey shrieked and attempted to get away from the big man but he couldn't, even with his arm in a cast the guy was strong. Brett however stopped and looked over at the scene Joey was making and Joey prepared himself to take on the abuse. Instead, Brett simply laughed, not just a little but threw his head back bellowing loudly. Once he had regained control of himself he looked over at the guy holding Joey and nodded.

"You can let him go Cliff, it's fine." He said casually and as soon as Cliff let him go, Joey ran to Mitch's side. He helped Mitch sit up and examined his bleeding mouth and bruised cheek.  Both Joey and Mitch glanced up at Brett who didn't seem angry at all anymore, it was like the guy flipped a switch and he was back to normal.

"What exactly do you want with Slade?" Mitch asked spitting out more blood. Cliff eyed the two on the floor and scoffed.

"I spent eight years in prison because of him. We worked a job together and unfortunately I got shot. Instead of helping me he left me there sitting in a pool of my own blood." He explained leaning his shoulder against the wall. "Do you know what prison's like? Of course you don't, you're just a child." He mumbled. Mitch rolled his eyes and leaned his head against Joey's shoulder.

"So this is a revenge thing? What about that offer you made him?" He asked, it was painful to speak but he wanted to keep the guy talking. Brett was eyeing him thoughtfully.

"Not exactly just a revenge thing. See before Slade and I worked together I had another business partner, well the business was my idea and I let him go in fifty, fifty with me." He replied. Mitch watched him carefully as he shifted his position slightly. "It was great until the mother fucker double-crossed me and stole the business right out from under me. I planned to take him down, of course I needed money so I took the job with Slade first."

"And then you got caught and couldn't take your ex-partner down...." Joey put two and two together and Brett smiled.

"Smart kid. So now I'm out, I'm back and Slade owes me for taking the fall for him. I didn't even give him up when I could've." He chuckled and Mitch glared at him.

"He doesn't owe you anything." Mitch grumbled and Brett took a few steps toward them.

"You better watch your tone with me boy." He warned and again Mitch rolled his eyes. He didn't care what this guy said about Scott, he knew what kind of person he was. Scott obviously had a reason for leaving this asshole behind. "Anyway, he has four days to make up his mind, otherwise it'll go very badly for you two just remember that." He pointed at them and the boys exchanged looks.

"He's not going to help you, you know he won't give into you so why drag this out?" Mitch asked.

"Oh he'll help me, he'll do anything to protect you." He laughed and walked to the door. "Let's go Cliff." He ordered and the big man smirked at the two boys and followed him out. As soon as they heard the click of the lock Mitch groaned loudly and held his shoulder.

"Are you alright? Oh my god Mitch..." Joey asked examining his wounds more closely.

"I'm alright, it's fine." Mitch mumbled and moved away from the frantic boy who was attempting help him.

"It's not fine! Look at you? He would have kept going if I hadn't spoke up." Joey yelled jumping up.

"Yeah probably, thanks for that by the way..."

"You're welcome, but seriously Mitch what are we going to do? You said it yourself Scott won't help him so how are we getting out of here?" Joey was starting to panic a little. If Scott wasn't going to give the guy what he wanted then he was going to kill them both.

"Joey you need to calm down. Yes, Scott won't give into him but that doesn't mean he won't come for us. I know him and he's going to show up. These guys don't stand a chance against an angry Scott." Mitch chuckled and then his expression changed as it hurt to laugh.

"I hope you're right..." Joey mumbled and sat back down next to Mitch. He eyed Mitch who looked horrible and sighed. "Come here Mitchie." He stated and patted his lap. Mitch smiled and layed back placing his head on Joey's lap, trying to get as comfortable as he could. "You sure you're alright though?" Joey asked again as he stroked Mitch's hair comfortingly.

"Yeah just sore. I'll be fine." He mumbled and closed his eyes. It was going to be a long four days.
