Chapter 29: Stand-Off
Joey peeked up from the crates and had a clear view of two of the goons that were firing at the pillar, which Scott and Mitch were still trapped behind. They seemed to have forgotten about him for the time being, only focussing on those two behind the pillar. He glanced over at them and rolled his eyes when he saw them sucking each other's faces off. "Really guys? Not the best time for that..." He mumbled, but smiled as he kind of found it funny. He focussed back on the men and put his gun up ready to shoot. He had to get them both fast or he'd lose his chance and they would be back to firing at him. Keeping the gun steady, he took aim and fired once then quickly moved it slightly to the left and fired again. Both men were hit and dropped like flies making Joey smirk. He glanced over at the two love birds who were looking back at him. He saw Scott mouth a thank you and he nodded back to him and peeked back over the crates for the location of the other men. They had watched their comrades fall and were now firing at the crates realizing Joey was behind them. He could see a few more peeking out from behind their own hiding places but didn't think he had a clear shot.

"This is getting old, I don't see Brett or Kevin anywhere so they must be in another room." Scott remarked as he fired a few more times.
"Ok so...what;s your plan exacty?" Mitch asked ready to follow his lead whatever that may be. Scott looked to be thinking a moment looking back and forth from Joey to Mitch.
"I have to go find Kevin and Brett." He finally said getting into a squatting position.
"How are you going to get to him though?" Mitch asked also getting into a squat. They were running low on bullets and there were still at least five guys out there.
"I don't know but as soon as I get you and Joey out of here I'm going to help Kev. I can't just leave him with that psycho." Scott replied and began to stand up but Mitch grabbed his arm and pulled him back down.
"I'm not leaving without you." Mitch stated firmly.
"Babe...if anything happens to you I...."
"No! I'm not leaving you alone, not again." Flashbacks of leaving Scott in Joey's cabin while his father's men were busting down the door flooded Mitch's memory and he looked down at the ring on his finger. He gripped Scott's arm tighter. "I'm not leaving you." He said again. He glanced over at Joey who was looking at them in confusion, then looked back at Scott. "Go, we'll cover you."
"Mitch...."
"Scott, go find Kevin." Mitch cut him off before he could protest.
"I can't just leave you here with all of them!" Scott's voice cracked at the thought of leaving Mitch in danger. Mitch smirked and shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't worry, Joey and I can handle these douchebags. We'll come help when we can, just go." Mitch kissed Scott's hand softly and turned his back on Scott to fire a few rounds, hearing one of the men cry out telling him he had hit one of them somewhere at least. Scott was in awe of Mitch. He was so confident, so brave, so good at everything he tried to do. He slowly stood up and got ready to run for it, when Mitch turned back to him. "Scott?" He asked and Scott looked down at the boy. "Kill Brett." He stated and Scott nodded. If Kevin hadn't already done so he would kill that bastard for everything he had put Mitch and Joey through. Mitch waved over to Joey until he caught his attention and pointed at Scott who was now standing up.
"What?!" Joey yelled as he wasn't sure what Mitch was trying to say.
"Cover him!" Mitch yelled back and pointed at Scott again. Joey's eyes widened as he realized Scott was going to run for it. He wasn't positive, but he had an idea that Scott was going to try to find Brett since he was obviously not out here. Joey nodded to Mitch and took aim once more. "Ready?" Mitch asked and Scott nodded. Mitch looked back at Joey and nodded. "NOW!" He yelled and began firing. Joey followed his lead and Scott wasted no time in taking off back towards the hallway. He had no idea where Kevin and Brett were, or how many other men were hiding around here but all he cared about right now was finding Brett and shoving the gun in his hand down his throat.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin walked through the deserted hallway not even bothering to be quiet. He wanted Brett to know he was there, he wanted to draw him out. "Come on you coward! Let's throw down!" He yelled and then stopped in his tracks when he heard laughter from the end of the hall.
"Throw down? Seriously?" Kevin recognized Brett's voice and continued towards the opening. As he stepped through the doorway he saw Brett standing on the other end of the large room, smirking confidently. "So...I'm guessing Scott told you about my little plan, that's the only way you'd know where I was." He said sounding annoyed. Kevin smiled.
"Pretty much, though I could've found you without him." Kevin sassed.
"I shold have known he's try something like this." Brett remarked shaking his head in disapointment.
"So this is all because I took over the business? Kinda old to be throwing a temper tantrum now aren't ya?" Kevin laughed as Brett's smirk faded and he narrowed his eyebrows.
"Yes...keep laughing. How's that army you brought with you? Oh wait, they're all dead right?" Kevin glared and pulled out his gun, taking a few steps closer to Brett.
"You're a psychopath Brett, I knew it from the first time we met. That's why I pushed you out of the business. And now, I'm going to kill you. Nothing personal, just business." He explained pointing his gun at Brett. Brett scoffed and didn't look to be worried at all.
"Aww, you don't think we'd let you do that do you?" Kevin raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"We?" He asked but then knew what Brett meant. He felt a hard object jut into his back and heard it cock. He slowly raised his hands still glaring at Brett when the guy grabbed the gun away from him.
"Now, listen to me Kevin. That business was mine, I thought it up, I put everything into it and you...you stole it from me." Kevin rolled his eyes as Brett's monologue started. "You disrespected me and then because of Scott I had to put this off for a few years....but now I'm back and after I kill you, I'm going to kill Scott's lover right in front of him." He smiled evily and walked forward. "Then I'm going to kill Scott very slowly, probably the same way I'm going to kill you." He laughed.
"Brett!" Brett suddenly turned to see Scott standing behind him, gun aimed ready to shoot. The man behind Kevin grabbed his arm and stuck the gun to his temple, moving his head behind Kevin's in case Scott decided to shoot. "Let Kevin go or I shoot your boss!" Scott yelled and the man laughed, not letting go.
"You care so much about Kevin, I suggest you lower your gun before my guy blows his head off." Brett smirked as he saw the dilema in Scott's eyes. If this was before Scott became human he wouldn't think twice about shooting and letting Kevin die, but now...he couldn't seem to pull the trigger.
"I said let him go!" Scott growled trying to sound threatening.
"Just shoot!" Kevin yelled and Scott looked over at him.
"Yes shoot Scotty....shoot me. Because if you don't, I'm going to kill little Mitchie, then I'm going to kill you..."
"SHUT UP!" Scott screamed and cocked his gun.
"Fucking DO IT!" Kevin yelled again but was stopped by the guy yanking his arm behind his back. Scott looked from Kevin to Brett and back not knowing what to do. He wanted to kill Brett for hurting Mitch. for hurting Joey, for getting him fired, for ruining his perfect life with Mitch. But he also couldn't let Kevn die, he wasn't that person anymore. Still he wouldn't drop his gun either. It was a stand off with neither one wanting to fire and neither one wanting to back down.
