Chapter 21: Trapped
Mitch layed on his back staring at the dirt on the ceiling. If he concentrated he could actually form pictures from the dirt lines. It was starting to get dark out now, another day gone and still Scott hadn't shown up. Mitch didn't know if he was ok or not because the last time he heard Scott's voice was at the other building. He knew there were other men around there and...maybe Scott didn't make it out? But he had to, he was Scott freaking Hoying! Greatest hitman around, right? He never got caught, never lost a fight, never got....killed. Mitch was scared to death of Brett now. The guy was insane and he wasn't sure what he was going to do. He sat up and moved as far away from the door as possibly as he heard someone coming to the door; the chain scraping against the floor as he moved. He watched the door be pushed open and shuddered when Brett strolled through with an evil smirk on his face. "Time to make Scott pay little Mitchie..." He hissed. He moved towards Mitch and grabbed his arms, pulling him up violently.
"NOOO!" Mitch screamed and fought but Brett didn't care. He acted like he liked that Mitch was fighting back. Brett held him against the wall, pressing his forearm into Mitch's neck.
"That's right, keep fighting...it'll only make it worse." Brett laughed. "Cliff get your ass in here!" Brett continued as he held Mitch in place.
"LET GOOOO!! STOP!!" He continued to scream even though it made no difference. Cliff ran in and gabbed Mitch's right arm, pulling it up and pinning it against the wall. Brett held up the same knife that had stabbed Joey and brought it to Mitch's hand making Mitch scream frantically; tears streaming down his face. "PLEEEAASSEE DON'T!" He sobbed and Brett pointed the tip of the kife at each finger.
"This little piggy went to market, this little piggy stayed home...and this little piggy got cut off because of stupid little Scotty...." He sang and positioned the knife over Mitch's middle finger. Mitch closed his eyes as he continued to cry waiting for the pain when they were all startled by gunfire ringing out through the building. Brett lowered the knife and checked his watch before backing away from Mitch. "Right on time. Let's go get em'!" He yelled and Cliff threw the hysterical brunette to the floor. The two ran out of the room and locked it behind them. Mitch sank down still sobbing uncontrollably. It was Scott, he was here, he came!
"SCOTT!!" Mitch sobbed loudly....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This had to be it, it was the only warehouse around the area and even though it looked dark and abandoned, Scott just had a feeling Mitch was in there. He walked through the darkenss towards the building but stopped and jumped back around a nearby building when he realized there were cameras all over the warehouse. Yep, definitely the right place, and they were expecting him. Now he wasn't going to be able to get in without being seen. "Damn..." He whispered and glanced back at the buiding. He had to get in there somehow so, he decided if they saw him then oh well. He needed to concentrate, go to that place in his mind where Slade still lived so he could take out anyone in his way. He pulled out his gun and pointed it at the camera over the doorway. He fired and smiled as the bullet sailed into the camera; pieces flying everywhere. They they definitely knew he was here now, so he had nothing to lose right? He ran to the door and kicked it trying to break it down but it didn't work. He tried again and this time the door flew open and Scott ducked as he was instantly met with gunfire. He army crawled behind some wooden crates that were piled up and took a deep breath. This wasn't exactly how this was supposed to go but then again when does anything ever go right? Never. He glanced around one of the crates to see where the shooting was coming from and just barely got back behind before a bullet whizzed by his ear. There were at least two men out there up on the second floor. Scott knew he needed to move, he couldn't stay pinned down like this or he'd be screwed. He closed his eyes and focussed on the sounds around him, a skill he'd learned over the years which he'd forgotten about. "One....two....three!" He whispered and jumped up firing twice and then dropped again. He listened and heard a loud thump which made him smile. He'd hit his target. There were still bullets flying around him but one man was down. He looked to his right and saw a huge, thick stone pillar. If he could get to it and get a better angle he could kill the other man. He waited until he heard the gunfire stop and then jumped out and rolled pointing and shooting as he slid behind the pillar. He barely made it when the firing started again, but from a different direction. So there were more than two men. The pillar was being pounded by bullets and Scott had nowhere else to go.
"Enough of this!" A voice yelled and Scott noted the bullets stop and the sound of someone landing hard on the ground, one of the men obviously jumped down and was coming over to him. The firing continued and Scott glanced back to see the man walking confidently towards him while continue to shoot. Scott smiled as he knew he just had to wait until the guy came close enough and he'd be able to take him down...he hoped anyway. Finally the man was right on top of him and Scott couldn't wait any longer. He jumped out and grabbed the man's gun, bringing his foot to his knee and kicking hard. The man screamed in pain as Scott saw the man's kneecap move, knowing it was now not attached to his knee. Scott stood over the man and pointed his gun, he didn't recognize him but that didn't matter. He cocked it and put his finger on the trigger but before he could shoot a bullet flew towards him and knocked the gun right out of his hand. Scott jumped back behind the pillar as more bullets soared passed him.
"Fuck!" Scott hissed as now he was unarmed and trapped again.
"Slade, or Scott whichever you prefer. Why don't you come on out and we can have a little chat?" Scott felt the anger at the sound of Brett's voice.
"Fuck off!" Scott yelled and glanced around for any possible escape.
"There's nowhere to run Slade, you're completley pinned down and you know it." Scott sighed still trying to figure out a plan. There had to be a way out, there just had to be. "You have five seconds before we come and get you..then things will get messy." Brett contnued and Scott knew he didn't have much of a choice. "One....two...three..."
"ALRIGHT! I'm coming out..." Scott finally gave in and raised his hands. He slowly stepped out from the pillar and saw Brett and Cliff standing behind the man who Scott had hurt. He was now dead....and Scott looked shocked at the sight of blood around him.
"He was...so careless so I didn't have a need for him anymore." Brett explained seeing Scott's reaction. "Now come along quietly." He ordered and waved his gun. Scott carefully walked to them and Cliff grabbed a hold of his arm ready to pull him along. Scott smirked at the cast on the big man's arm and then without even thinking swung his elbow up into Cliff's nose. He turned his attention to Brett and grabbed the gun, pushing him back towards the wall. He kept the gun pointed up as it went off a few times and managed to elbow Brett in the stomach. Finally the Brett let go of the gun but before Scott could do anything with it Cliff threw a kick knocking the gun from Scott's hand. It was two on one as both Cliff, whos nose was now bleeding all over the place, and Brett came after Scott. Scott kicked to the side of Cliff's head and he stumbled to his knees; his eyes looking around like he was trying to focus. Scott watched his eyes close and crumbled to the floor, but Scott had focussed on him for too long and before he knew it Brett had hooked his foot around Scott's ankle. Scott landed hard and Brett was on him in a second, gun in hand. He had grabbed Scott's hands and pinned them above his head, and Scott realized he was once again losing a fight, he had underestimated Brett's strength. "You should have just come quietly....you should have listened to me." Brett hissed in Scott's ear.
"I will never help you Brett don't you see that!" Scott yelled and Brett smiled.
"Oh you will..." Scott's eyes widened as Brett lifted the gun and the next thing Scott felt was pain to his forehead...then blackness.
