Chapter 22: I'm Here
Everything was so dark, so fuzzy. Scott heard screaming but he couldn't figure out where it was coming from. "Where are you?!" He yelled to the screaming voice but got no answer, just more screams. He cautiously walked further in the darkness feeling against the wall to stable himself as the screaming got louder. He was getting closer. "I'm here! I'm coming!" He yelled frantically as he recognized the voice, it was Mitch! He was here and he sounded hurt! "Mitch I'm coming!!!" He screamed and began to run. He could see a light up ahead and knew it HAD to be where Mitch was. But as he approached it was clear to him that he was just imagining things. There was no Mitch, he was alone...
Scott opened his eyes to see a very dirty ceiling. He very slowly and carefully sat up and looked down at his wrists, which were secured tightly in handcuffs. "Awesome..." He mumbled and heard movement next to him. He turned to see Mitch staring at him; his cheeks stained with tears. Without a word Mitch crawled over to him and Scott lifted his arms out allowing Mitch to crawl up and under them. Mitch curled up in Scott's lap and buried his face in the crook of the blonde's neck sobbing; Scott squeezed him tightly as his own tears formed. "Shhh...i-it's ok Mitchie....I'm here." He whispered as Mitch sobbed louder. He held the boy protectively waiting for Mitch to calm down. Finally Mitch was silent and he lifted his head a little so he could look at the man who he loved so much. "I'm here to rescue you babe." Scott said chuckling a little. Mitch smiled and couldn't control the giggle that escaped his lips. Scott had missed the boy's smile so much and the sight almost brought his own tears back but he fought to keep them down.
"No offense but this is a horrible rescue job Scotty..." Mitch grumbled and Scott frowned.
"Ok so it didn't go exactly as I planned, no worries I'll still get us out of here." He said confidently. His smile faded as Mitch suddenly became very sad again. "What is it babe?" He asked; concern clear in his voice.
"Joey...he's...."
"OH! Mitch Joey's fine!" Scott interrupted him as he just realized Mitch must have thought he was dead. Mitch's eyes widened and he looked at the blonde in shock.
"How? I saw Brett stab him...they said he was dead!" Mitch shrieked and Scott smiled.
"I got to him and got him to the hospital in time. He's fine Mitchie....well he's mad that I wouldn't let him come here...but other than that he's great!" Scott said cheerfully. Mitch let his tears fall, but they were happy tears that Joey was alive. He was so sure he was dead. Scott lifted his hands to wipe Mitch's tears away, which was awkward because of their positions and the handcuffs. Still, he was able to do it and Mitch smiled at him gratefully. Scott took a moment to study Mitch's appearance. He had bruises on one side of his face and his lip was now forming a scab from where the skin had been torn.
"What are you looking at?" Mitch asked becoming self-conscious at Scott's staring.
"What did he do to you Mitchie...." He replied softly as more of a statement than a quiestion. Mitch sighed and crawled out of Scott's arms to sit in front of him.
"I got mouthy with him...you know how I am....and he got mad." Mitch shrugged like it was no big deal. Scott put his hand on Mitch's shoulder to comfort the brunette but Mitch winced and shrank away from him. Scott furrowed his eyebrows and crawled closer to examine Mitch's shoulder; his eyes widening when he saw that there was deep bruising around it. Mitch hadn't even looked at it so he had no idea what it looked like.
"I'm going to fucking KILL him!" Scott yelled and stood up. As he did he noticed the chain hanging from the handcuffs.
"Yeah by the way, it's connected over there." Mitch informed him and pointed to the pole across the room. Scott walked over and tugged on the chain a little, then grumbled and dropped it.
"Well this day just keeps getting better and better doesn't it." He chuckled. Mitch shook his head at how casual Scott was being about this. He really didn't know how dangerous Brett is.
"Scott....there's something wrong with Brett." Mitch started. Scott turned to face him and nodded.
"I know. I could tell when I talked to him that something was off about him."
"Yeah but...he's like seriously crazy...he..." He paused wondering if he should tell Scott about Brett almost cutting off his finger.
"He what Mitch. Tell me what he fucking did to you!" Scott growled becoming angry. Mitch took a step back nervously and Scott's expression changed dramatically.
"I'm sorry...just tell me baby..." He said softly.
"He said he was going to make you pay. Right before you came he almost....he..." Mitch paused, having trouble getting out what he was trying to say. Scott knew it must be something bad because of the fear in Mitch's eyes.
"Please Mitch, tell me." He asked again trying to remain calm. Mitch's thoughts went back to what Brett almost did. Joey's blood all over the knife, the blade almost touching his finger....he really thought he was going to do it.
"He...he was going to cut off my finger!" Mitch shrieked; tears filling his terrified eyes. "He almost did it! H-he was so close Scott! T-then you showed up..." He finally said. Scott was more than pissed. He wanted Brett to die in the most horrible way possible. Mitch could see how angry he was and was getting nervous about what Scott was going to do. Scott turned and stomped over to the door, or as close as he could get due to the chain.
"BRETT!!!" He yelled angrily and kicked the wall. Mitch backed away afraid to see Brett walk through the door. "YOU BASTARD!! I'M AWAKE SO LET'S DO THIS!!!" He continued.
"What are you doing!?" Mitch hissed and Scott ignored him.
"COME ON YOU DICK! YOU GO ME, I'M HERE SO GET YOUR ASS IN HERE!" Scott kicked the wall again and finally they heard footsteps coming. Scott glanced back at Mitch who looked like a nervous mess and he motioned for the boy to come over to him. Mitch hesitantly walked over to Scott and hid behind him, grabbing on his arm as the lock clicked and the door opened. Scott frowned when it wasn't Brett.
"What the hell do you want?" Cliff asked. Scott smiled at his nose which was twice the size it should be and blue and purple.
"I want Brett to stop being a prick and get his ass in here!" Scott yelled. Cliff smirked and walked towards them.
"I'd watch it if I were you Slade. You're not exactly in the position to be making demands." He sneered. Scott laughed.
"Don't act all tough. How's the arm by the way? Oh and the nose, you know I'm not positvie but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be that color....." Scott replied through his laughter. Cliff growled and Scott knew what was coming. The back of the Cliff's hand made contact with Scott's cheek and, due to the fact that he already had a headache from Brett's gun he went down. Mitch dropped to his side clutching onto Scott's shoulder.
"If Brett didn't want you alive I'd kill you now!" Cliff grumbled. Scott glared up at him.
"Why don't you try that when I'm not in handcuffs..." He mumbled brushing his hand over his now bloody lip. Cliff scoffed.
"Brett will be back later. Just shut the hell up." He ordered and stomped out slamming and locking the door behind him.
"Babe are you alright?" Mitch asked as Scott moved his mouth a bit.
"Yeah I'm fine...." He looked up at mitch's worried eyes; those eyes he missed so much. "I'm so sorry Mitch. I'm sorry I didn't tell you what was going on with me before, and I'm sorry this is happening." He looked down feeling horrible about everything being his fault. Mitch gently lifted his face and pressed their lips together.
"I love you Scott, no matter what happens that will never change." He stated. "Did you really do that to his arm and nose?" Mitch asked, a sparkle in his eyes. Scott laughed and nodded making Mitch laugh also. Even though they were trapped in here, Scott felt more like himself just being around Mitch. Now the question was...how were they going to get out?
