Chapter 28: Follow You Into Battle

"BRETT! YOU PSYCHO SON OF A BITCH! Come out come out wherever you are!!!" Scott could hear Kevin's voice booming through the halls as he finally succeeded in removing Mitch's handcuff's. "Come on you dick! You wanna take me down? Well, here I am...let's do this!" Kevin continued, his voice getting more and more faded as he walked further away from the group.

"Ok boy's we gotta go. Kevin can't handle them alone, and we're his only backup." Scott mentioned as he threw the chain to the floor. Mitch was nervous, judging by how much gunfire he was hearing there had to be a lot of guys out there. He felt like he was about to go into way or something, like ground zero. Still, the anger he felt towards Brett for what he did. He almost cut his finger off, and he used him to make Scott do what he wanted...Mitch wanted to see the bastard die that's for sure.

"Here." Mitch looked to Joey who was holding out a gun, which he took and cocked preparing to shoot anyone in his way. Mitch decided right there and then that if he saw Brett he would kill him on the spot, no questions, no mercy. The guy deserved worse.

"Stay close you two." Scott hissed and made his way out of the room; Joey and Mitch right on his heels. They could hear gunshots getting louder and louder as they hurried towards the front of the building. As they emerged into the wide open space they were immediately met by bullets flying all around them and Scott quickly grabbed both boys, yanking them behind one of the huge stone pillars. Bullet's battered the stone as Scott looked for any way to get the two boys to safety. "Joey!" He yelled and Joey turned to him; his eyes revealing how scared he was. "When I tell you, run for those crates understand?!" He hissed.

"But what if..."

"JUST DO IT!" Scott cut him off making Joey clamp his mouth shut and nod in compliance. The look Scott was giving him told him there was no point in arguing."Get ready!" Scott directed. He got into a squatting position and prepared himself to haul ass as soon as Scott gave him the word. "GO NOW!" Scott yelled and began to fire everywhere he could, smiling over at Mitch when he realized he was also firing giving Joey a clear path. Joey did not notice Mitch firing because as soon as Scott yelled go he took off towards the wooden crates and dove behind them. Only when he turned back to them did he realize Mitch had helped.

Mitch looked around nervously trying to figure out where they were going to go. Joey was now stuck behind the wooden crates, and he and Scott were still trapped here...there was no way out except to kill all of Brett's men, which they couldn't do from here. He fired a few more shots and then ducked behind the pillar as a bullet nearly hit him. "Scott there's a least a dozen guys out there! How are we getting out of here?!" Mitch asked frantically. He continued to shoot glancing back at Scott now and again waiting for his response, though he had a feeling Scott didn't know what to do. He smirked when he hit one of the men and he watched him drop. Scott wasn't exactly sure how to get Mitch and Joey out, but he also didn't want to leave Kevin in there alone. Sure the guy was a scumbag, but he came to help when he didn't have to. He could've easily turned down the money and told Scott to shove it but he didn't. He felt a little bad for pulling Kevin into this, especially since most of his men were already dead. He fired a few more times, hitting one of Brett's guys and then looked at Mitch. He studied his features for a moment, taking in how amazingly beautiful he was. Everything about him was flawless, his skin, his cheekbones, the way his hair fell. Even when he was dirty and had been without a shower for days he was still flawless. "Babe?" Mitch's voice was distant to Scott's ears as he concentrated on the boy. His eyes were so unique, not like normal brown eyes. It's like they had magical powers or something because they were sometimes so dark that they could be black as night, but yet they were also a light, golden sparkling brown. Mitch was staring at Scott looking confused, and Scott couldn't help himself. He reached out and gently touched Mitch's face; feeling his soft skin. He couldn't imagine life without him. He needed Mitch, he wanted nothing but to grow old with him. He wanted to give Mitch the greatest life he could possibly give him. He wanted to support him through all of his ups and downs, he wanted to help Mitch reach his dreams. He just wanted Mitch forever. "Babe snap out of it! We need to get out of here!" Mitch yelled placing is hand on Scott's trying to wake Scott up from his apparent trance.

"I love you Mitch." Scott started.

"I love you too Sc..."

"No, I love you more than life itself. I've realized I can't live without you. You're all I think about, you're all I want to think about." Scott continued cutting him off. Mitch stared blankly into Scott's blue eyes not knowing how to respond. More bullet's pounded the stone and Scott fired a few more times.

"Babe this isn't the time for this..." Mitch started but stopped when Scott reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring. His eyes widened as Scott held the ring up for him to see; the gold shining in the dim light around them. "This is what I've been trying to say to you since the night Brett ruined our dinner. I want you Mitch, forever and always." He smiled at the tears that formed in Mitch's eyes, and he reached down pulling the boy's hand up. "Mitchell Grassi, will you marry me and be mine forever?" He asked sliding the ring slowly onto Mitch's slender finger. More bullets interrupted their moment and Mitch took his turn firing, dropping another man in the process.

"You had to do this now of all times?...." Mitch laughed and wiped his tears. Scott chuckled and looked away in embarrassment. "Yes." Mitch stated and Scott's head whipped back up making Mitch laugh as he looked like a deer caught in headlights. "Yes Scott Hoying, I will marry you!" He pulled Scott in for a kiss and for the moment, the two forgot they were trapped. They forgot about Brett, about the bullet's all around them, about everything they've been through. They were just together, and for that moment they were at peace with one another. Scott broke the kiss and smiled brightly at the brunette.

"Now how about we drop these bastards and get the hell out of here?" Scott stated confidently. Mitch laughed and nodded preparing himself to follow Scott's lead.

"I'd follow you into battle anytime babe." He replied earning a proud smile from the blonde.
