Chapter 26: Coincidence
Joey sat in the back of the cab trying to formulate a plan. He couldn't just waltz right in through the front door, and yes he could pick a lock and go through the back door...IF there was a back door, but what would he do once he got inside? If this building was anything like the other one then how the hell would he even find them without being seen? He only had a certain amount of bullets for the gun so he had to use them sparingly, and he had no idea how many men Brett had in there. This was beginning to seem like more and more of a bad idea to him and he was starting to regret this decision. He didn't know anything about how to do...this...what Scott does and now he was trying to save two people from an army all by himself? "Wait! Pull over." He yelled as he realized they were getting close to the address of the building.
"You sure man? This isn't the best neighborhood...."
"Yeah I'm sure...thanks." Joey replied. The man shrugged as Joey handed him the money and opened his door.
"Good luck dude." He mumbled and Joey waved as he drove off. It was an obvious choice to have the cab driver drop him off a few blocks away so he wouldn't be seen, he may not have a lot of experience in this area but he wasn't a complete idiot. He walked the rest of the way getting more and more antsy as he got closer, and feeling less confident about this 'plan' of his. Still, he wasn't going to back down. He was going to do at least something regardless if it killed him or not. He pushed that from his mind as he approached the building and crept into a squat, peeking out from behind the corner. To his right there was a door with a camera above it, or what used to be a camera. It was now broken. "Yep, Scott was here..." He whispered and looked around for any other cameras. Everything seemed clear to him, though he wasn't sure what he was looking for exactly. He was scared as hell but he stood up, pulled out the gun, took a deep breath and was about to step out from the corner when he felt something blocking his path causing him to trip. The gun fell from his hand as he went down, landing hard on his stomach. He didn't have time to figure out what had tripped him before he was pulled to his feet roughly and his arms were pinned behind his back. He grunted in pain as his stab wound stung and he thought he ripped his stitches, but no luckily they remained intact. After everything he'd been through he knew better than to say anything so instead he focussed on the group of men around him. He didn't remember seeing any of them with Brett before, but then again he only saw three guys, one of which was Brett.
"Now who are you and what are you doing here?" A voice asked coldly from behind the group and Joey turned to try and catch a glimpse of whoever it was. He could make out a dark figure standing there but he couldn't see what the guy looked like. "What....too shy to speak?" The man chuckled a little. Joey winced when the man holding his arms pulled them tighter.
"I could ask you the same question." Joey replied not sure where his sudden attitude came from. He braced himself for the anger he was sure was going to come from the man but instead, he just laughed.
"You remind me of a kid I met a while back. Had a smart mouth on him and was very sassy...course I almost killed him because of it..." Joey shuddered realizing just how much trouble he was in right now. Yep this was definitely a bad idea coming here by himself. Seriously, did he actually think he would be able to do anything once he got here? Stupid little Joey thinking he could be some kind of a hero. Joey mentally scolded himself as he watched the man step slowly from the darkness; his eyes widening as he recognized who he was.
"Kevin Olusola..." He stated, somewhat surprised to see him. Kevin's expression went from confident to shocked, then confused. He stared at Joey as if trying to figure out who he was.
"How do you know me? I think I'd remember meeting a pretty face like yours." Kevin asked curiously. Joey rolled his eyes at the compliment and eyed Kevin as he walked closer and leaned against the wall of the building. He sized the man up as he continued to stay quiet. Kevin was big, almost as tall as Scott but much broader telling Joey he was very strong. He probably shouldn't try and push his luck with him. "You know this silent treatment you're giving me is starting to get on my nerves. Answer my questions...and I might let you live." Kevin proposed. Joey wasn't sure of what to make of this guy. He was scary that's for sure and Joey was pretty sure he meant what he said, but he couldn't help but wonder why he was here. Brett was after Kevin, and the guy was seriously insane, so why was Kevin here right now...going right into the line of fire? If Brett needed Scott to help get to Kevin then all Kevin had to do was stay away from here and he wouldn't have to worry about Brett finding him right? Unless he heard about Brett wanting to kill him and he decided to come after him first? Either way Joey was confused and Kevin was getting aggravated by his silence. "One more time kid, how do you now me?" Kevin asked, annoyance clear in his voice. Joey gulped and cleared his throat to speak.
"Well I don't exactly know you, I know of you...it's kind of a long story, but it's the reason I'm here right now." He finally answered, then realized that was a pretty vague explanation as to why he was here.
"Come again??" Kevin looked extremely confused by Joey's bad explanation. Joey sighed in frustration, he didn't have time to explain the whole story to these jerks. Scott and Mitch could be hurt, or something worse and Joey couldn't concentrate on anything else but finding them right now.
"Alright look I really don't have time for this..."
"Oh I suggest you make time...you've got some balls kid and you're lucky I'm a patient man." Kevin's threatening tone cut Joey off. Joey decided to give him the quickest explanation.
"Long story short, Scott Hoying and his boyfriend are in there and I'm here to rescue them....sort of...." He summarized and the shocked expression on Kevin's face was priceless.
"What a coincidence, you and I are here for the same reason."

Scott sat in silence watching Mitch sleep peacefully. The poor kid was tossing and turning for so long that Scott was sure he was never going to fall asleep, but finally exhaustion took over and he drifted off into the dream world. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring; examining it closely. He was getting so frustrated that every time he got close to proposing someone had to come and ruin it for him. Why couldn't things just work out for once in his life? He had a plan for getting he and Mitch out which he didn't divolge any of that information to Mitch, but even that wasn't working out the way he planned it. They should have already gotten out by now. His thoughts were interrupted by someone walking towards the door and he quickly put the ring away. "Mitchie wake up!" He hissed; shaking the boy awake.
"Wha...what is it?" Mitch asked, tiredly rubbing his eyes.
"Somethings up." Scott answered and stood up. His words seemed to snap Mitch out of being tired and he stood up quickly as the door opened. Cliff and Blake stood in the doorway smirking at them. "What's going on?" Scott asked, stepping in front of Mitch protectively.
"Change of plans. Looks like Brett won't be needing your help after all." Cliff sneered, pulling out his gun and stepping closer to them. Blake followed his lead and also took out his gun.
"Oh come on, after all this you're just gonna shoot us?" Scott already knew the answer but he was stalling for time. He didn't think he would be able to take them both out and protect Mitch, especially with the annoying handcuffs that were currently rubbing his wrists raw.
"Nothing personal Slade...just business, and a little revenge....but mostly business." Blake laughed. Cliff gabbed Mitch and pulled him away from Scott, and when Scott attempted to make a move Blake pointed his gun at his forehead, stopping him in his tracks.
"S-Scott??!!!" Mitch's voice was shaky and full of fear as he felt the cold barrel of Cliff's gun against his temple.
"Don't do this....I swear if you fucking hurt him I'll kill you all!" Scott growled. Blake cocked his gun as Scott shifted trying to find any way to get to Mitch.
"Wish I could say it's been fun, but really I'm tired of seeing your face." Cliff sneered and put his finger on the trigger. Scott looked into Mitch's tear filled eyes with complete horror. He had no idea what to do, his worst nightmare was about to happen and he couldn't do a damn thing to stop it!
