Madeline sat at the Turners kitchen table as Sophie ran into the garden with Angela, May and Teddy following behind her. This had become a common occurrence in the past few months. The children played as Shelagh and Madeline chatted and they all waited for Tim and Patrick to get home.
Outside Patrick parked the car and stopped Tim from getting out.
"I thought that we should talk"
"About what?"
"Your intentions with Madeline"
"I'm going to marry her, dad"
"I know, that's why I wanted to talk. You asked sister Julienne about getting her blessing, so I dug out a little inspiration" Patrick motioned towards the glove box and Tim opened it pulling out the piece of paper that had been wrapped around Shelagh's engagement ring when Patrick proposed.
"I can't exactly give her this one" Tim teased.
"No, but the sentiment is the same. You're not just marrying her, you're becoming a father too"
"I know. I love them both, dad. I want to be her husband, her father. I'm ready for it all" He admitted with a wide smile.
"Like father like son" He smiled "I'm proud of you Tim, so are both of your mothers"
"Thank you, dad" He smiled.
"We'd better get inside, our wives are waiting for us" He smiled, climbing out of the car, Tim quickly followed after him.

A few days later everyone was gathered at Nonnatus house. Tim excused himself and Madeline and the pair moved over to Fred's little garden. Madeline took a seat on the bench and Tim followed.
"I wanted to talk to you about something" Tim began.
"What about?"
"Us. I want us to be a family Madeline. You, me, and Sophie. I love you both so much and I want to be a part of your family and I want you to join mine" Tim reached into his pocket and handed her a small wrapped box. Madeline took it from him, untied the bow and opened up the paper.
"Will you marry me?" She read out loud before her eyes met his "Yes. Yes, yes, yes. A thousand times yes" She smiled widely before she hugged him tightly and when they broke apart he opened the box and slid the ring onto her finger. And when they went back inside their friends and family cheered and smiled. And when the mothers found out about Timothy's engagement, not long after all of Poplar was celebrating with them. And finally, after so long, Madeline finally felt at home.
