A week later, in the year 1987, Lucas and Erica found themselves in the midst of a spirited sibling argument, their voices rising in playful defiance as they pressed each other's buttons.
"Seriously, Lucas, can you ever let loose for once in your life?" Erica chided, a playful glint in her eyes.
Lucas rolled his eyes, shaking his head in mock exasperation. "I could say the same about you, Erica! Maybe learn to take things a little more seriously for once."
Max watched the exchange with a smile, knowing all too well the dynamic between the two siblings. The tension between them was palpable, but she could sense the underlying love and familiarity that anchored their relationship.
As the back-and-forth banter continued, Max's laughter bubbled up, unable to contain the amusement that the siblings' dynamic brought. Lucas seized the opportunity and playfully lunged towards Max, his fingers finding their mark as he tickled her with abandon.
Max's laughter filled the room, bright and infectious, as she squirmed and wriggled under Lucas's teasing touch. "Lucas, stop! Haha, I can't breathe!" she gasped between fits of laughter.
Lucas relented, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips as he sat back, watching Max gasp for air between laughs. "See, Max? You can't resist my tickle attacks," he teased, a playful twinkle in his eyes.
Max caught her breath, wiping away tears of mirth, and playfully swatted Lucas on the arm. "Well, you caught me off guard this time. But don't get too cocky, Lucas," she said with a playful glint in her eyes.
As the laughter subsided, Max reached into her bag and pulled out her cherished Sony Walkman ww8, a relic from a bygone era that held a special place in her heart. She queued up the song "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush, the haunting melody filling the room with its ethereal sound.
Max closed her eyes, losing herself in the music, swaying gently to the rhythm. Lucas watched her, his gaze softening as he took in the moment, appreciating the beauty of her expression.
When Max opened her eyes, a smile gracing her lips, she turned to Lucas, who was looking at her with a mixture of warmth and affection. "I love this song," she said softly, her voice filled with emotion.
Lucas nodded in agreement. "It's a classic. And even better with you here to share it with me," he replied, his voice tinged with sincerity.
Their eyes locked, and without a word, they both leaned in towards each other, the music enveloping them in its spell as they shared a sweet, tender kiss, the world around them fading away in that moment of connection and intimacy.
