Lucas and Max had just finished their shopping at the store, their laughter and banter filling the aisles as they browsed for snacks and supplies. But as they turned a corner, Lucas froze in his tracks, his eyes widening in shock at the sight before them.
Troy, his old bully from 1983, stood just a few feet away, a sneer on his face as he locked eyes with Lucas. Before Lucas could react, Troy lunged at Max, his fists flying in a flurry of blows that caught her by surprise. She stumbled backwards, her eyes wide with disbelief, before collapsing to the ground in a heap.
Panic gripped Lucas as he scooped Max up in his arms, her limp body a weight he could barely bear. Without a second thought, he rushed her to the hospital, his heart pounding in his chest as he prayed for her safety and well-being.
As Max was taken into the care of the hospital staff, Lucas fumbled for his walkie-talkie, his fingers trembling as he reached out to his friends for help. "Guys! Me and Max were at the store and I saw Troy... he attacked her! And now... now she's in a coma," his voice cracked with emotion, his fear and desperation evident in every word.
Mike, Dustin, Will, Eleven, Joyce, and Hopper arrived at Max's bedside, their faces a mix of shock and concern as they took in the sight of Lucas, his hands shaking and his eyes haunted by the events that had transpired. They surrounded him, offering comfort and reassurance as they worked to calm his frayed nerves.
Eleven reached out to Max, her hand gently clasping hers as she delved into her mind, seeking solace and connection in the depths of her unconsciousness. Max's voice echoed in her thoughts, filled with worry and concern for Lucas, her love and loyalty shining through even in her vulnerable state.
"Is Lucas okay? I need to know if he's okay! Please tell me he's not hurt," Max's voice rang out in the ethereal space of their minds, her words a plea for reassurance and hope.
"We walked in and saw him having a panic attack, so the others are trying to calm him down... We are all going to wait for you to wake up again, I promise," Eleven's voice, gentle and soothing, carried a promise of solidarity and unity in the face of adversity.
As Eleven emerged from Max's mind, the group made their way back to Hopper's cabin, their hearts heavy with worry and uncertainty. Lucas sat by Max's bedside, his hand reaching out to gently stroke her hair, a silent vow of love and devotion in his touch.
Days turned into weeks, and Lucas continued to visit Max in the hospital, his presence a source of strength and comfort for both of them. And as the days passed, a sense of hope and healing began to bloom in the small corner of the world they had carved out for themselves, a testament to the power of love and resilience in the face of adversity.
