Four years earlier

"Be careful Lucia!" shouted Priscilla. "In front of you!"

"I'm on it!" shouted Lucia, then smashed the abomination monster in front of her with her fist.

"Nice move!" Priscilla praised cheerfully as she also destroyed an abomination with the help of a tendril.

It was late afternoon when the two little girls were playing in the yard of the Daemonne house. Priscilla had previously taken three large containers full of abomination slime and summoned a few dozen small abomination monsters from them, which she ordered to attack them. This was Priscilla's favorite game with Lucia, as she could always see the brunette girl so happy at this time. And for Priscilla, nothing was more important than finally seeing Lucia smile. The purple haired witch knew very well how much Lucia was bothered by not being able to cast spells and thus missing out on a lot of fun and games, which is why she invented this activity just for the two of them. There was no need for magic here, it was enough to hit or kick the enemy hard, as the monster would then melt into a simple blob.

And Lucia did this with a particularly great vehemence today. After the brown-haired girl smashed two abomination monsters with both fists at the same time, she headbutted a third one, then literally jumped on the next enemy and started punching the monster, which had already turned into a blob, on the ground. Priscilla started to worry.

"Abominations stop!" Priscilla called herself as all the slime monsters froze.

At first, Lucia was surprised to learn that the enemy had stopped, then she stood up gritting her teeth and looked at Priscilla. The purple haired witch was momentarily startled by the brunette girl's figure. Lucia's gaze was like... like a wild beast. The purple haired witch quickly shook her head and said:

"Okay, Lucia, what's up with you? I've never seen you this aggressive..."

Lucia closed her eyes, then took a deep breath and let it out. Then she opened her eyes and Priscilla was relieved to see that Lucia's previous expression had vanished.

"I don't know what you're talking about." replied the brown-haired girl, trying to avoid Priscilla's gaze.

Priscilla took both of Lucia's hands.

"Lucia, what is it you're not telling me?"

However, the brown girl kept silent and began to fixate on the ground.

"Come on, don't do this!" Priscilla scoffed. "You know very well that you can tell me anything. I won't tell anyone! Daemonne Promise!"

Lucia raised her head with great difficulty and looked at Priscilla. The purple haired witch was frightened to see that Lucia's eyes were filled with tears.

"I feel so useless Priscilla..." Lucia whispered and a few tears rolled down her face. "Even at this moment, my Grandpa and his team are risking their lives on some mission, and I'm here punching a couple of abomination monsters instead of practicing my magic. But that's an impossible task for me, because I don't even have an inch of magic in me... And it makes me so angry... I'm really trying, but I don't know what I should do..."

Priscilla hugged Lucia, stifling her sentence.

"Shhh." Priscilla shushed her friend. "You shouldn't think like that! You are not useless at all! You are indeed useful in your own way! In fact, I'd rather say you're impressive!"

"Impressive?" Lucia looked confused at the purple haired witch.

"Yes." Priscilla nodded with a smile. "Even without magic, you can deal with much more abominations than I could with my spells. So I should feel useless next to you."
