William Clawthorne flew with his staff at the speed of the wind. The orange haired man closed his eyes and let his palisman take control. William loved to fly. This was when he could feel truly free. He loved how the wind ruffled his hair and face, how the natural environment embraced him. For him, flying was not only a mode of transportation, but rather a meditative state where he could recharge. William took a deep sniff of the air, the freshness of which reinforced the feeling of freedom even more. As he flew, his mind wandered away from everyday problems and he was completely freed from the burdens that had dragged him down to earth...

"Hey, why are you in such a hurry?"

William opened his eyes and looked in the direction of the voice. Not far behind him, he saw Violet Blight, his girlfriend, trying to catch up with him. William immediately started to slow down, so soon Violet was already flying by him.

"I'm sorry." William scratched his head awkwardly. "When I fly, I don't really pay attention to my surroundings."

"You should! Violet scolded. "And what if something happens to you when you don't pay attention?"

"Don't worry!" William reassured the witch with raven black hair. "Champion takes care of me."

With that, William caressed the falcon palisman on the tip of the staff. Violet just shook her head.

"Where are you taking me anyway?" Violet asked. "We've been flying for hours."

"To a place that is very important to the Clawthorne family," William answered quietly. "And since you are now part of our family, I would like you to see it too."

"Well, I don't really feel like I belong in the fam." said Violet looking around. "Your mom..."

"Do not worry about it!" William waved. "She just needs time to process it."

"I know." sighed Violet. "But she behaved quite strangely with me the whole time."

William had nothing to say to that. Unfortunately, his mother reacted very badly to Violet being his girlfriend at first.

William and Violet walked towards the Owl House holding hands. William was completely calm, unfortunately the same could not be said about Violet. The raven black haired witch was shaking quite a bit with nerves.

"Don't worry." William tried to reassure his girlfriend. "It won't be a problem. Mom has met you countless times."

"But not like her son's girlfriend." Violet answered as a slight blush appeared on her face.

"You're worrying unnecessarily." William smiled, even though he knew Violet was right on some level.

William had no idea how his mother would take all of this. Finally, they reached the door of the Owl House, which was covered with a board in the middle. The boarded up part used to be Hooty's place. However, the owl-worm had been living with Lilith for years and only occupied its old place when Lilith came to visit. William knew very well that his mother missed Hooty, despite her insistence that it didn't bother her.

The orange haired man took a deep breath and knocked three times on the door.

"Come in!" came Eda's voice from the house.

William opened the door and let Violet in, then the orange haired man entered the house. As William closed the door he looked around.

It had been three years since he left the Owl House, but since then the house had changed almost nothing. The living room was spacious and had a lot of things in it instead. Among other things, a fireplace, two sofas, a table and a couple of cupboards, which hid a lot of potions and books. On the ceiling was a painting of an owl creature that glowed bright yellow. There were several pictures on the walls. For example, Eda's arrest poster and Luz's first banned poster, which she got after pretending to be Willow's abomination homework. Next to Luz's poster was a larger picture of Eda, Luz, King, and Hooty. When William saw his brother, his hands trembled, so he turned his head and looked at his parents, who were playing cards.
