"Lyria, I beg you..." I rasp as I fall to my knees. She doesn't turn to me, the thugs remain pointing a gun at her head. But she still remains unfazed.
"don't jump." I say barely audible, but she hears me. I know deep down she did.
"just give me a reason; and I won't." her voice echoes into the night. I look up from the ground, and at her back. I'm silent.
"You can't, as I suspected." she said, with bitterness in her voice. I don't move.
Why didn't I want her to jump? Deep down, I knew the answer but I was scared. Why was I so scared of the truth?
"I..." I begin, but she cuts me short.
"Do me a favour, and let my sister know that her wish has finally been fulfilled. I'm leaving her life forever." My mind freezes at her words, but before I can decipher them; she jumps.
I scream.
"Lyria!!!!!" With an outstretched hand, and my mind goes blank.
Behind me, I hear the sound of a police siren. It doesn't matter, not as I run towards the edge of the cliff and jump too.
I dive as fast as I can, without a care of what was going on above. I fall into the ocean with a splash, and begin swimming trying to find Lyria.
Where are you Lyria?
My heart was literally beating out of my chest, as I scanned the open ocean. I finally spot a dark figure, slowly descending to the bottom of the sea. I swim towards it, and realize it was Lyria.
I realize her hands had been tied, I hurriedly loosen the ropes. Wrapping my arms around her small frame, I swim to the surface holding her tightly in my arms.
Once I get to shore, I hold Lyria tightly in my arms. I use my hand to try shaking her to consciousness, but she doesn't respond. I get scared.
"Lyria...." I say, shaking her again.
No response.
"you asked me for a reason right?" I ask, still trying to wake her up.
"I'll tell you, please just... open your eyes." I say, voice breaking. I hold her close to my chest.
"I care for you.... I care for you so much okay? Now wake up, please..." I say, tears sliding down my cheeks.
"no... you can't leave me like this." I whisper, laying her on the sand. I begin to give her CPR, but she doesn't react. I give up and sit in the sand, staring at her with bleak eyes. I was crying... for her.
I begin to remember all the times I'd spent with her, trying to piece the reason for my imense care for her.
Her cough ripples through the silence, I turn to her. She sits up coughing out water, I rush to her side gently rubbing her back. She stops moment later, and looks up at me. She opens her mouth to speak but falls unconscious, and I hold her just in time.
Up ahead, a group of medical specialists and some policemen come running towards us. They help me take an unconscious Lyria to the hospital.
