The more I stared at her in this unconscious state. The more miserable I felt.

I remained fixed in my position, reaching for her hand. I held it gingerly in mine, as I stared at her once again.

"I'm sorry," I began, breathing softly. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I didn't believe you... I'm such an idiot." I said, leaning my head on her hand.

"I'm sorry." I whispered again, a tear sliding down my cheek.

I remained in that position for a while more. Suddenly, the door opened. I lift my head slowly to see who it could be.
"Excuse me sir, but its time for you to go. The patient needs rest." The nurse who had just come in said to me.
I sit upright, wiping my face with the back of my hands.
"Yeah, I think I should leave too." I croak in a hoarse voice.
Getting up from the chair which I had been sitting on, glancing at her one more time...
I take my leave.
Before leaving the hospital, I meet up with the doctor. I needed to know when she could be discharged at the earliest, so her studies wouldn't be affected.
"How is her condition doctor?" I had asked him.
He had stared at me for while, before giving me a reply.
"Her condition is getting better, though I can't say she is out of risk just yet. We need to keep her under observation for a few days, so I can tell when she can possibly be discharged." He had explained.
The tension I had felt at that moment had stopped me from momentarily forming a coherent statement. Instead, I had scratched the back of my head for a moment before I had finally spoken.
"Alright doctor, please ensure you call me when she comes around or is ready to be discharged. I'll take care of the bills as well." I had replied, he had merely nodded.
"Thank you for your time, doctor." I had added, stretching a hand towards him for a hand shake as I stood up from my seat. He had gotten up too, shaking my hand as well.
"See you soon." He had finally said with a smile. I nodded, releasing his hand before making my way for the exit.
And now, I was currently in my car driving back home; to my mansion.
Driving in the silence, my  thoughts finally wander back to Layla. What would her explanation be this time?
Anger suddenly swells up within me, and it only worsened the closer I got to the mansion.
Once I arrive, the next thing I do is to yell out her name. She needed to explain to me why she did that to her very own blood.
"Layla!!" I yell for the fifth time. Yet, there was no answer.
I had searched everywhere in the house yet, I couldn't find her. Where could she have gone?
"Albery" I finally call out in defeat. After a few moments, he finally comes out to the living room. Where I was currently standing.
Mr Albery, is the family's butler. He has maintained his position for the past twelve years. Which is why he is immensely trusted by both my parents, including my brother and I.
This is why, I am one hundred percent sure he would know where Layla had gone off to.
"Albery, do you know where Layla has gone?" I finally ask him, after much thought.
He nods, "She has left the house sir." Came his reply.
I blink, assuming what I just heard was a mistake.
"Left? Why? To where?" I ask, confusion clouding my senses.
"I don't know that sir, but she had refused to wait for your return before leaving with her luggage." He adds, I sigh as I place a hand on my nose bridge; shutting my eyes for a brief second to think.
"Thank you Albery, you may leave." I say, dismissing him politely. He offers me a soft smile, before leaving to continue his work.
I retire to my room, still unable to wrap my head around everything that had happened so far.
I could tell that Layla isn't the kind of person to sit on her hands when things go against her.
She was currently planning something big, but what was it?
What could it be?
These thoughts continue to cloud my head, soon drifting me to sleep.
