*Brooklyn's POV*
I tap my foot as the helicopter approaches the base. We were just here last week, and now we are back. Price offered me a spot to come along with the team, not only as an undercover agent, but also as a soldier.
It was my dream to be a soldier growing up, move my way through the ranks and lead a squad. Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, maybe even Commander. But the only things I heard about that line of work while growing up was how dangerous it was, as if what I was doing now wasn't as dangerous, or worse.
I guess it's the principle, you either go out there with the intentions of staying unidentified, and come back with no issues, or you go out there with the intentions of being shot at, and shooting to kill.
That was another thing that didn't sit right with me, your first instinct being to kill. And yet, when Price said the words on the call, there wasn't a moment of hesitation.
My mother chewed me out the moment she got word, telling me it was dangerous and 'not my style', and I believe she chewed Price out too. And still, nothing could stop me once I agreed. So here I am, waiting to touch down at base once more. My bags sit beside me, everything I'll be needed for the next few months.
We had no intel on this Nikolai person, just that he exists and took Abram's spot. It's going to be a waiting game for sure, lots of time spent on base, as we wait for the intel to come in.
The vehicle bumps slightly as we touch down, doors opening from the outside. A soldier meets my eye, taking my hand and helping me out, grabbing my bags next. "Good to see you, ma'am," he greets, speaking loudly to be heard over the chopper. His hair is a light brown, longer on top with clean cut sides, but still within military standards. His eyes are a light, caramel brown. I nod towards him and smile in reply, head down as we head away from the vehicle.
"Hello, dear," Price greets by the bay doors, his squad standing just behind him. My eyes land on Ghost, who seems to have taken up his staring habit again. "Rook will lead you to your room," he states, nodding to the man holding my bags.
I thank him, and follow the soldier down the hall. He leads me back to the room I was in originally, setting my bags on the small bed. The room is bare, sporting only a bed, dresser, small desk, and night stand. "Anything else I can help with?" He says respectfully, and I turn to face him.
"No, thank you.." I trail off. "I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your name?" He smiles slightly, "names' Milo. Milo Rook." I smile back, "pleased to meet you, Milo. I'm Brooklyn."
He smiles a little wider, "well, your squad is all located in this side of base, if you need anything." He tells me. I raise an eyebrow, "just my squad?" I question.
"Yes ma'am, the rest of us are located on the other half of base, near the lounge." I nod slowly, confused why we'd be so separated from the other soldiers, but don't question it.
"Thank you, Milo," I say kindly. He nods again, leaving the room. I spend a decent amount of time unpacking my clothes into the dresser and small closet, putting my laptop on the desk and other notebooks and such I brought along.
I close the top drawer of the dresser, turn in towards the desk, and jumping as I spot a man leaning against my doorway. His eyes are dark in color, his mask making them seem scarier than I know they are. His frame takes up majority of the doorway, his shoulder pressed against the wood, arms crossed over his chest.
