Chapter 32

After his lunch, Jin went straight to the emergency room hoping to finish his shift just minding his work.

"Dr. Kim, Dr. Shin was looking for you earlier." Sangyeob said as soon as he saw Jin enter the emergency room.

"Huh? Was there any emergency?" Jin asked, not sure why he was suddenly summoned.

"I am not sure. He told me earlier to let you know about it. He'll be waiting for you in his room." Sangyeob said and Jin nodded.

He was still thinking if he made something wrong while walking towards the head doctor's office. He was getting nervous as he gets near the place and he is not sure why. It is not an unusual thing to be called in their head doctor's office but he is not sure why this time he is getting an anxiety.

He knocked twice at the doctor's office and when he heard a "come in" from the inside he opened the door. As soon as he opened the door he bowed to the doctor not really seeing clearly the people around the room.

"I'm sorry for suddenly calling you here, Dr. Kim." Dr. Shin said and that made Jin look up.

Jin noticed there are more people in the room but did not look at them yet as he is focused on what the head doctor needs.

"It's okay, Dr. Shin."

"Please seat together with Dr. Jeon and Dr. Kim." Dr. Shin said and that's when he realized that Taehyung and Jungkook are all in the same room.

His eyes widened and he was frozen in his place. Instead of taking his seat, he just looked at the people who were already seated at the edges of the couch and who are looking at him.

"Dr. Kim?" Dr. Shin said.

"Ah, y-yeah." Jin said and he sat in between the two doctors on the wide couch even he felt awkward with the situation.

Dr. Shin stood up from his seat and went in front of the three doctors.

"Our chairman called me because one of his nephews was involved in a motor accident few minutes ago while in the race. Based on the initial findings, it looks like he is suffering from severe type of Depressed Skull Fracture. Due to the initial findings, it was evident that he needs trauma surgery to be performed as soon as possible but since this involves the skull, I also requested assistance from our neuro surgery department. This may not be easy and we are also dealing with a VVIP person. The patient should be here in 10 minutes and I need the three of you to ensure that we will be able to do our best in helping the patient."

Dr. Shin stopped and sighed. He pinched his nose bridge and removed his glasses.

"This patient is very close to the chairman so he will also be here later. I am not sure how severe the injury was, but before the surgery, we need to check and do everything we can.

Dr. Jeon, as the assistant head of the trauma department, I am assigning you as the leader of the surgery. In case it gets too much, please approach me so that I can work on it instead."

"That is noted, Dr. Shin. I will make sure to advice you for any update." Jungkook answered.

"Dr. Kim Seokjin, I would have to pull you from the emergency room and would need your help in giving assistance to Dr. Jeon throughout the process and if surgery is also needed."

Jin's eyes widened but nodded anyway. "Y-yes, I understand, Dr. Shin."

"Dr. Kim Taehyung, we would need your opinion with the surgery and possible help with the process as well. Your expertise is highly needed at this point."

"That is understood, Dr. Shin. My help will be given to the two doctors." Taehyung answered.

"Thank you, doctors. I would---"

Dr. Shin was not able to finish his sentence as his phone rang and immediately answered it when he saw that it was the Chairman calling.

"Yes, Mr. Chairman. The team are ready to assist. Yes, yes. We understand. This is duly noted." Dr. Shin said in response to the call.

Dr. Shin then turned his attention back to the doctors.

"He will be in the ER in 2 minutes. Let's go." He said and the doctors all stood up to rush to the ER.

As soon as the patient came in, all the 4 doctors blocked the other medical teams as Dr. Shin explained to the medical staff that the VVIP patient will be handled by the 3 doctors.

"Dr. Kim, I need your help in checking with the family for any possible metal implants inside his body." Jungkook said as he checked on the patient.

Jin nodded and went to the patient's family.

"Please request MRI or possible CT scan to the laboratory." Taehyung advised the nurses and one of them nodded as they immediately dialed the number for the laboratory.

Jungkook advised the medical team to move the patient to the bed so that they can further check.

"No metal pins or any surgery before, Dr. Jeon." Jin said when he came back.

"Perfect." Jungkook said.

"We need to do the MRI as soon as possible because the patient is still unconscious." Taehyung said and Jungkook agreed.

They called the team to help in moving the patient quickly to the laboratory area for his MRI while Jungkook called the operating area to prepare a neurotrauma operation for the patient.

"Please call Nurse Kim." Jungkook said to Nurse Choi.

"On it, Dr. Jeon." The nurse responded.

"I will check the MRI." Taehyung said and Jungkook nodded.

"I will go with h---" Jin said and was about to follow Taehyung but was called by Jungkook.

"Dr. Kim, please prepare for the operation." Jungkook said as he checked on his phone.

"Should Nurse Kim prepare for it?" Jin asked him.

"Nurse Kim is not yet here and as Dr. Shin mentioned, you need to assist me in the surgery. I will meet you in the operating room." Jungkook said before leaving the emergency room.

The staff of ER were looking at the interaction and were surprised how there seemed to be a tension with the two.

Jin sighed seeing Jungkook leave.

"Are you okay?" Sangyeob asked Jin seeing how the conversation went.

"Y-yeah. I need to go." Jin said and left the room.

Jungkook went to the MRI room and checked the results with Taehyung.

"How was it?" Jungkook asked when he saw Taehyung looking at some details found in the MRI.

"Confirming the skull trauma. It is on the left part and the surgery should be done by incising a part here. I will watch over the surgery and will also scrubs. I can take over once you have reached this hemisphere since there's a blood clot due to the trauma." Taehyung explained as Jungkook watched where he was pointing the spots.

"I am good with that."

"I also need Jin to---"

"He is preparing for the surgery now." Jungkook said. "Anything you need from him can be discussed in there."

"O-okay."

"I will take my leave now. Nurse Choi already advised the family about the possible surgery but I will talk to them to sign the papers and explain the procedure before I scrub in. I will meet you in the operating room. Please ask them to prepare all these results in there." Jungkook said and left without waiting for Taehyung's response.

"Isn't he just too much?" Taehyung muttered to himself.
