(Gerard's POV)
I was running to the cemetery. It was the only place that made sense to me that Ray and Frank would have gone.
Honestly, nothing made much sense to me right now. I was running after a demon. A demon that was centuries old and I had barely known for weeks.
The logic had to be in there somewhere.
I eventually made it to the cemetery, having to stop at the gate to wheeze my breath back to normal. I pushed my way into the cemetery, the gate being heavier than I had remembered. When I was in, I felt a bit saddened to see it empty besides its usual occupants. What did I really expect? I had only come here because it made the most sense to me, but I honestly had no idea where they had gone. Why was I here?
(Frank's POV)
Ray and I finally made it to a portal to the surface. We shot out of the crypt I had used to enter hell in the first place. I looked around in the fresh daylight. I was about to go smoke and fly to G's house, but I saw movement ahead of me. I held my hand up to Ray and pointed. I sped over and stopped almost immediately. It was G, sitting at our tree with his face in his hands. Ray held back as I walked over to him.
I sat next to him and tilted my head. "Why so down?" I asked him quietly, leaning my head close to his ear.
His face slowly rose from his hands and he looked at me. He didn't say anything. He just threw his arms around me and hugged me tightly.
"Hey! It's okay, haven't been gone for that long." I laughed, holding him equally as tight.
"You fucker, just saying you love me then leaving without a goodbye..." Gerard laughed nervously, shaking in my arms, "Two days hasn't felt longer..."
"Two days!?" I pulled away and looked him in the eye, "Has it already been-"
I saw G's eyes widen and heard Ray cry out behind me. I spun around, shielding G behind me. It was the bald, babysitter demon. I felt a twinge of fear, thinking back to the cage.
Ray was on the ground, clutching his stomach.
"So he's how you got out." The demon laughed, "Too bad you're going right back in."
"Oh no." I flashed my eyes black and grinned.
"What makes you think that, little hell soilder?" He looked behind me at G. "Oh, and look at that little catch behind you. What fun his fate will be to play out."
I took my arm that wasn't blocking G and reached in my pocket. I pulled out my first crumpled mission.
"Because I've been sent out on special order from the shadow. Gerard Way is my bounty and only I can take his fate early."
The bald demon stared at me. I felt confidence from what the shadow had given me.
The mission the shadow had given me had been altered when they changed G's fate. Gerard Way was the name of my mission before it was crumpled. It was meant to be the mission that bumped me up to the next class of demon before I was put into punishment for that incident between the shadow and I. It was never canceled, however. So when they bumped up his fate, it still appeared under my name. I had the only order against him, therefore I was the only one that could collect his soul.
And while I was in charge of his fate, nothing would happen to G.
"How is that possible?" He snarled.
"Well, when you don't fill out the proper paperwork..." I grinned in triumph. He couldn't touch G.
A demon on a mission was killable, but kill him before his mission is done and risk losing the soul they were hunting.
The bald demon stared at me angrily. I saw Ray flash me a grin. He got it."Have a problem? Take it up with the shadow."
"This isn't over Iero." The bald demon threatened, "don't get too domestic with this pretty little soul." He looked back at G and flashed a grin. "I'll be back."
We watched him disappear into smoke and vanish.
