I didn't react at all.
'Amalia, look at me,' he says gently and kneels down between my legs.
He gently pushes my chin upwards.
'It wasn't your fault,' he whispers.
'But... I should have listened to you, that everyone always wants my body instead of me,' I say quietly and introspectively.
'Raise your arms, dear...' he whispers again.
I comply with his demand. He carefully pulls his hoodie over me, which was too big for me.
"May I touch your face?" his voice sounded again.
I nodded my head. Carefully and gently, he wiped my smudged mascara off my face.
'Did he hurt you?' I asked quietly.
My thoughts were still circling around me and I couldn't sort them out.
'You're asking me that, love?' he asked with a sweet smile.
For a brief moment, I sank into his eyes again.
"What happened here?" Lewis burst in.
Lando moved away from me.
'I took care of her...' Lando said, defending himself.
"About what?" Lewis asked, concerned but also skeptical.
"Lewis...it was my fault. I'm sorry. I should have listened to you,'' I say, still shaky.
Lewis immediately takes me in his arms.
'Did he do something to you?' my brother asks worriedly.
No answer follows.
'You're sleeping with me tonight,' Lewis' voice rang out again.
"Thank you, Lan, for helping her," Lewis said to Lando before I left Lando's room with him.
-------------
After a while, I slowly woke up. Unexpectedly, I found myself alone in Lewis' bed. I was still wearing Lando's soft hoodie. Standing on my own two feet, I make my way to Lando's room. His bedroom door was open a crack. His excited voice spoke over the phone he held in his hand. I didn't quite understand what the phone call was about. Only bits and pieces reached my ears. One pair of words made me freeze.
'Father, all she did was drink and get violent, I'm glad she's gone...' he said sourly.
A frozen step backwards was my reaction, hitting my back hard against the wall, as well as my eyes and then everything was black. My memories from then on are fragmented.
"omg, Amalia...what happened?" Lando asks worriedly.
His strong arms carry my semi-conscious body into the car, whereupon he probably takes me to the hospital.
Beep..beep...
Slowly and weakly, I open my innocent eyes. Pain spreads through my head and along my back.
' Lewis' voice sounded to my right.
Slowly, I turn my eyes to his figure. Behind him, I recognized Lando, who was leaning against the wall.
"How are you?" Lewis asked me.
'Quite well... what happened?' I ask quietly, confused.
lando found you unconscious outside his room, don't you know what happened?" Lewis asked, still worried.
'No...' I lied.
Lewis' cell phone rang and he became nervous. My eyes were constantly on Lando. Lewis's figure left my hospital room.
"Are you sure you're okay?" I heard his raspy voice.
'I'll be fine, Norris,' I said, sitting up with conviction.
"Are you going to drive me home, norris?" I ask, wanting to get out of bed.
I don't know, that's not a good idea,' he says, supporting me.
Lewis comes back in.
'Amalia, is it okay if Lando drives you home? If not, I'll do it too,' Lewis asks me frantically.
'It's all right, you go,' I say.
I feel him kiss my forehead before he leaves.

During the car ride
'Tell me what really happened...' he asks me.
My gaze shifts to him.
'I really don't know what happened...' I lie again.
'Don't lie to me,' he says and looks me in the eye for a moment.
'Well... I wanted to see you after I woke up and then I heard something while you were on the phone and it triggered me so much that I took a step backwards and ended up crashing into the wall...' I explain everything to him.
"You overheard my phone call?" he asks sternly.
'I only heard bits and pieces...' I explain myself.
'And what exactly triggered you so much?' he asks gently again.
My gaze lowers. His free hand pushes my chin up.
'You don't have to say anything,' he almost whispers.
'You said that she only drank and got violent...' I replied with a lot of effort.
"And how did that trigger you? Is it something to do with your mother?" he asked cautiously.
''Yes,'' I said quietly.
Silence followed.
'You don't have to tell me...' he whispers carefully, his eyes still on the road.
My hand grips his.
"She also drank a lot and um she often had male B visits.." I say with a trembling voice.
''Who hurt you?'' he asks and stops the car.
His fingers push my chin back up.
''Who caused this scar?'' he asked, meaning my scar on my stomach
"The men..." I say quietly and I avoid his fingers under my chin.
"Did they touch you, dear?" he asks again.
I nod through tears as I stare outside. Lando continues driving. No further words followed. A few minutes later we arrived home. I entered the apartment with my feet, but Lando remained standing in the doorway, looking at the floor.
"Come on in..." I say confused.
"I'm sorry...I have to go," he says, still looking at the floor.
I place myself in front of him. My fingers push his chin up. His eyes meet mine.
"Please don't go...I need you, Norris," I begged him.
''I can't...'' he said and he disappeared into the dark.
I looked after him for a long time. Countless questions hovered around me. Why does he leave me when I need him most?
