The next day, around 9am, we arrive at Matteo's office because I knew that he had gotten her pregnant and not Lando. Maria is waiting outside in the car as I assumed this would not end without trouble. My cell phone was connected to Maria's so that we would have his confession on tape. My heart was beating fast. Full of courage, I knocked on Matteo's office door.
''Come in...'' his deep voice rang out.
Running in, I close the door behind my back.
''amalia...what a nice surprise...'' his voice sounds again, escaping his chair.
''Don't pretend, Matteo...'' I respond sternly, because I only had one goal in mind.
''What is your pleasant presence doing to me?'' he responds with a dirty smile, his vessel touching his chair again.
Standing at a distance, I continue to look at him.
''You have to answer me one question...and honestly...'' I speak calmly now.
''And that would be, Amalia?'' he raised his eyebrow.
''It's about Vanessa...did you get her pregnant?'' I ask him, my gaze devoid of emotion.
''I know what you're up to..I've read the rumors about your lover..you think I'd help him?'' he responds with a smirk.

''This isn't about Lando..it's about me as well. It's about the fucking truth, Matteo...'' I get more upset.
''I don't give a damn about the truth...let your lover bathe in hate...'' Matteo spoke in his position of power.
''What else would I have expected from you? Still the same asshole as before...'' I replied full of hate.
''Ouch...'' Matteo said with sarcasm.
My eyes turn back to him.
''If I do this...then you have to do something for me too...'' he responds after a long pause.
''And what would that be?'' I suspect something unpleasant.
''A kiss...'' he responds coldly as he leaves his chair again.
''You can forget that...'' I answer directly, because I know Lando would never forgive me.
''All right...then let your lover drown in the scandal and soon he'll be a nobody...'' Matteo jabs.
Turning to him again, Matteo takes a few steps towards me.
''First the kiss and then I'll confess to you...I'll even send you a written statement via email...I promise, Amalia...'' Matteo spoke again.
''Okay...'' I said quietly.
I'm sorry, Lando.
Leaning in, Matteo places his lips on mine. I react briefly to the kiss, but immediately afterwards I push him away from me.
''lando's really lucky with you...'' Matteo says with a dirty grin.
''I've done my bit...now it's your turn...'' I say, taking a few steps back.
''Okay...Lando didn't get Vanessa pregnant. The child is not Lando's, it's mine. Vanessa lied to everyone so Lando could get revenge for leaving Vanessa for you. That's the story...'' Matteo explains to me.
''I never want to see you again, Matteo...and I'm finally keeping you out of my life from now on...'' I say in frustration.

''Sweetie...are you okay?'' Maria asks as we drive back to Monaco.
The kiss with Matteo was heavy on my stomach and Lando and Lewis kept calling me.
''I fucked up, Maria...he'll never forgive me for that kiss...'' I respond, on the verge of tears as Maria drives.
''amalia..shh. He will understand if you explain it to him...'' Maria spoke soothingly to me.
Wiping away my tears, I now answer one of Lando's many calls.
Lando: ''oh my god dear..finally you answer the call. Are you okay? Where are you? Is Maria with you?
Me: ''hey..sorry I'm only answering now..Maria and I are arriving back in Monaco in a few hours..we went to Paris to get my last things.''
It's hard for me not to start crying all over the phone.
Lando: ''Why didn't you tell me about it? I was worried sick, dear...''
Me: ''it was a spontaneous thing...I'm sorry.''
Lando: ''it's okay..but is everything okay? You sound different...''
Me: ''I'm fine...I'll see you in two hours...'' I say at last and end the call.
Tears leave my eyes.
''It's okay, sweetie...'' Maria says and touches my hand lovingly.

''Oh my God, sweetie...'' he jumps up from the couch as Maria and I enter the apartment in Monaco late in the afternoon.
He immediately hugs me, which I immediately reciprocate, followed by my eyes getting wetter again.
''Are you okay?'' he whispers softly to me as he continues to hug me.
''Yes...'' I respond frailly.
Gently breaking the embrace, his eyes capture mine.
''We have good news, amalia...'' Lewis interrupts us now.
We sit down on the couch together, Lewis opens the laptop and opens the latest post from a website.

''amalia...I don't know how this happened, but we've done it. We made it...'' Lando says to me overjoyed as I look at this page.
''Yes, we did...'' I respond quietly, feeling happy but not letting it show.
''dear...what's going on? Did something happen in Paris?...wait a minute, Matteo lives in Paris...'' Lando guessed as he grabbed my hands.
''We'll give you a moment...'' Maria's soft voice rings out because she knows how bad it made me feel.
Lewis and Maria leave the room.
''You were with him in Paris, right...'' his deep voice rang out, after which he let go of my hands.
''yeah...I couldn't watch her ruin your career...'' I try to make Lando understand.
''Are you fucking serious? I thought I made it clear to you that you shouldn't do this...why the fuck?" his voice becomes more frustrated.
''because this was the only way for you..and for us...'' I respond quietly, already vulnerable enough.
''damn it, amalia..why can't you ever listen to me?'' he curses as he runs a stressed hand through his hair.
''i'm sorry if this hurts you..i just wanted to do the right thing..i hated that everyone despised you..you deserve better..and i did it..i proved that you're not the father, lando...'' i explain my point of view to him.
''It wasn't the right fucking thing to do..Matteo could have hurt you..how did you even get him to make that confession to you?'' Lando asks.
It will break his heart. I'm so fucking sorry, Lando Norris.
