I entered the wedding hall in a beautiful and long evening dress, accompanied by my friend Matteo, who was wearing a fine suit. Holding hands, we looked around until we finally recognized familiar faces.
''Oh my God, Amalia...'' came the voice of my brother, who I had been missing for several months.
Running into his arms, I let go of Matteo's hand.
''You look adorable...'' I say to him, looking Lewis up and down.
''I'm so nervous, ama...'' he says.
''I know...'' I respond with an amused smile.
''hey, Lewis...it looks beautiful here...'' Matteo shakes Lewis' hand.
Lewis kindly returns his hand.
''Where's Maria?'' I ask him.
''Over there in the back room...'' Lewis answers me.
''Will you keep an eye on him?'' I whisper to Matteo.
''Of course, darling...'' he assures me with a smile.
With a quick kiss on his cheek, I walk over to the back room. I shyly enter it.
''oh my god, amalia...'' Maria freaks out.
''How beautiful you look...'' I say speechlessly.
I hug her tightly.
''I've missed you so much...'' she whispers into the embrace.
''and I missed you first...this is your big day, Maria...'' I say softly, catching sight of her beautiful wedding dress again.
''I'm so excited...'' she says nervously.
I respond with a smile.
''I know...and that's completely normal...'' I try to reassure her.
''maria...where are the rings?'' his voice sounds behind me.
Speechless, I turn to him.
''amalia...'' he says, breathing heavily.
''lando...'' I manage to get it past my lips.
Our eyes deepen into each other. When Maria hands Lando the ringers, he turns his eyes away from me. Me too. Lando left the room and I took a deep breath.
''Are you okay?'' she asks me.
''I'm fine...and besides, this is your day, sweetie...'' I assured her.

''You may now kiss the bride...'' says the priest to Lewis and Maria.
As best man, I stand next to Maria and Lando stands next to Lewis. As the two of them kiss, our eyes lock onto each other again. I find it hard to swallow, and so does he. Only when Lewis and Maria step into our field of vision do we come back to reality. There was applause from the audience. My path led back to Matteo.
''You look adorable, sweetheart...'' he says cutely, his fingers landing on my hips.
''So do you...'' I say with a smile.
Behind me, I felt his gaze on my bare back. I briefly capture Matteo's lips before we intertwine our hands and hurry to the real wedding party with the others. They definitely didn't skimp on money there. A beautiful view over Monaco's harbor, with the sun low in the sky. Plus a huge buffet and a DJ. The wedding cake is bigger than I am and the atmosphere is fabulous. We took our seats with Matteo, who was assigned to us.
''Amalia?'' came a familiar voice.
''Charlie? Alexandra? I asked with a smile.
Rising from my chair, I hug them both.
''You look well...'' Charlie remarks.
''Thank you...I feel good too. How are you?' I answer kindly.
''Very well...we're moving in together soon...'' Charlie says with a smile, catching Alexandra's amorous gaze.
''I'm very happy about that...''
''Are you here alone?'' Charles remarks.
''No... do you remember Matteo?'' I ask, holding out my hand to Matteo.
He takes it and finally stands next to me. He shakes their hands in a friendly manner.
''Nice to meet you...'' Matteo says.
Not really involved in the conversation, I look around occasionally, meeting his figure. Leaning against the bar, he was enjoying his whiskey. Now his eyes met mine. But I couldn't figure it out.
''I'm going to talk to him for a minute, okay?'' I nudge Matteo lightly.
''Of course, darling...'' he says softly, kissing my cheek.
Convinced, I complete my walk over to the bar.
''A Lillet, please...'' I say to the bartender.
''Coming right up...'' he responds kindly.
''matteo, then?'' his voice now sounds next to me.
My eyes now meet his.
''Yes, matteo...'' I respond.
''Does he treat you well?'' he answers quickly, but his eyes don't touch me.
''He does, lando.'' I answer honestly.
Now his handsome face turns to me.
''How are you, lando?'' I raise my voice again.
The bartender hands me my gals, which I clasp in my hand.
''Pretty good, life is fun and I'm enjoying it a lot...''
''The parties and the women?'' I try to look relaxed.
''Have you been stalking me, madam?'' he asks with a smile.
''Me? No way..I have more important things to do..I just figured that's what you meant when you said you were enjoying your life right now...''I reply to Lando.
''More important things than stalking me? Ouch...'' he takes it with humor.
''Imagine, I have a job and I'm busy 24/7...'' I smile slightly, taking a sip from my glass.
''Will you tell me more?'' Lando replies gently.
''I got the job in a company where I create designs for random customers...'' I explain to him.
Our eyes make a connection.
''That's what you always wanted, right?
He still knew.
''Right, norris...'' I respond with a soft smile.
''And your career? Is it going well in Formula 1? I ask him.
''Have you stopped watching it?'' he responds.
''Yes, I have, but...''
''But what? Then why are you asking me?'' Lando said again.
''I just wanted to talk to you...''
''that's not necessary...you're here with company, so go back to him...'' he said harshly, his gaze turning to Matteo in the distance.
''Are you mad at me somehow?'' I ask him, slightly hurt.
