A Phone Call

Genevieve Borroff.  She seems harmless.   A speeding ticket in 1988, but other than that, clean.   Karen Jagger was clean except for two speeding tickets.  "They live in Indiana, so I will call about four our time," she told Stephen as she handed her the pictures.   "Wow!   She looks like she belongs with Johnny.   Green is her color."  She smiled and said Johnny was on her way to tea, as she looked at her social media a bit more.   She loves nature.   She loves old buildings and graveyards.   She is beautiful and she is one who would be perfect for Johnny.   She was going to call Genny first.

Genny ate from 11-12 and around 11:14, there was a phone call from a weird number.   She picked up.

"Hello, Genny?"  The woman pronounced he g.

"It's like Jenny.  I am Genevieve."

"Oh that is so pretty."

"May I ask who is calling you?"

"Gina Deuters."

"Gina Deuters?"

"My husband is assistant to Mr. Johnny Depp."

"Is this a joke?"

"It's not.  I got the letter and this girl is an exquisite beauty and I got chills when I saw her.   I want to introduce her to Johnny."

"Are you fucking serious?"   The ladies from the judges office stirred.

"I am.   Look, Johnny is coming over soon and I will discuss it with him.   He is going to Owensboro in a month.   Seems like you are close by."

"Not really, but we can make it.   This will make her life.   See, her husband was like Amber, took a lot out on her.   He wouldn't leave her alone, chasing her from room to room, always disrupting her life."

"Sounds like they'd be perfect.   Well, Johnny will soon be here.  I will see what he says.  I will keep you in the loop."

"For sure.   This time is really good for me or in the evenings.   She takes her lunch later than me."

"Mr. Depp shall be here by three.   I think they need to hook up.  No, date."

She hung up the phone, smiled and when she went back from lunch, she smiled and stared at her best friend.

"What?  Is something on my face?"

"No.   Just sizing you up."

"For what?"

She went back to work.   She saw Johnny sitting next to her.   She saw it all.   Karen went to lunch and Genny motioned DeeDee over to her desk.

    "What?"

"Girls trip.   Owensboro."

"What?"

"Her letter got through to his assistant."

"Are you serious?"

"DON'T TELL HER!!!"

"Are you serious?"

"Yes.  I talked to her.  I actually texted her thanking her for this.   She says she sees them together."

"They are both beautiful people."

"They are."

"So, what are you going to do tonight?"  Genny asked.

"Well, the election is over and I am going home to catch up on sleep."

"Ah."

"What do your weekends look like up until Christmas?"

"Shopping.   The Christmas party.  Why?"

"We need to make a girl's trip."

"If you want.   I want to go to Evansville to shop.  There is a great new mall there!"

"Well, if shopping is involved!"

"Of course."

Karen had no clue.   She thought they were just going shopping as friends, but Evansville was a little far.   The election was over last week and she was still tired.   She just got into her bed and crashed.    She watched "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" wishing she lived in a small town, he wasn't fiction, and maybe her life wouldn't be a horrible mess.  She would have had more than one child.   She would have been happy.  Now it was too late to have another child, as her periods were sporadic, she had chin hair, and her waist was missing.   She texted her daughter as she did every day and went to sleep, unaware her world was going to change.
