The aftermath of the villain attack leaves U.A. High shaken but resolute. The city district bears the scars of the battle, a stark reminder of the heroes' bravery and the villain's destructive path. Midoriya, heavily bandaged but thankfully not seriously injured, sits by Bakugo's bedside in the recovery room.
Bakugo, his arm in a sling and a grumpy scowl etched on his face, glares at the ceiling. The silence is heavy, a stark contrast to the usual banter they share.
"You were an idiot," Midoriya finally breaks the quiet, his voice laced with a mixture of anger and relief. "Charging in like that..." Bakugo lets out a weak huff. "Someone had to take care of you, Deku." He avoids Midoriya's gaze, the telltale blush creeping across his cheeks betraying his attempt at bravado.Midoriya's heart aches at Bakugo's gruff admission. He reaches out and gently takes Bakugo's hand, the uninjured one. Bakugo tenses for a moment, then hesitantly squeezes back. "Don't ever do that again, okay?" Midoriya pleads, his voice barely a whisper. Bakugo remains silent for a long moment, his eyes locked on their intertwined hands. The past months spent navigating their feelings flash before him – stolen glances, whispered secrets, and a growing sense of affection for the boy who used to be nothing but his rival.
"We make a good team," he finally mutters, his voice barely audible. "Even if you are a pain in the neck, Deku."
A genuine smile breaks across Midoriya's face. "Likewise, Kacchan." The comfortable silence settles again, a new understanding hanging in the air. The near-death experience has stripped away their usual defenses, leaving them vulnerable and raw.Desperate to break the tension, yet wanting to express the storm of emotions brewing within him, Midoriya blurts out, "There's something I something I wanted to tell you." Bakugo glances up, a flicker of curiosity sparking in his eyes. "What is it, Deku?" Midoriya takes a deep breath. "Since the amnesia... since we got to know each other again, it's been different. You're not just Kacchan, my rival, anymore. You're..."
He hesitates, searching for the right words. "You're important to me, Kacchan. More than I ever thought you could be."
His voice trembles as he confesses his feelings, the weight of unspoken emotions finally pouring out.Bakugo listens intently, his expression unreadable. Finally, after a long pause, Bakugo speaks, his voice still gruff but softer than usual. "You think I haven't noticed, Deku?" Midoriya's eyes widen in surprise. "You... you know?" "How could I not?" Bakugo scoffs, though the blush on his face tells a different story. "The way you look at me, the way you worry... it's not just hero stuff, Deku."
A wave of relief washes over Midoriya. He isn't alone in his feelings. The shared experience of amnesia, the unexpected bond they forged, has blossomed into something more."So..." Midoriya starts, a hopeful smile blooming on his face. "Does this mean...?" Bakugo leans forward, their faces inches apart. "It means," he murmurs, his breath warm against Midoriya's lips, "that maybe we can figure this whole 'us' thing out together, Deku."
A slow smile spreads across Midoriya's face. In that moment, surrounded by the sterile white walls of the recovery room, they seal their newfound bond with a hesitant yet passionate kiss. The road ahead promises to be challenging, their past rivalry a constant shadow, but together, they face the future with newfound confidence and a love forged in the fires of competition and shared experiences. They are heroes, partners, and now, they are each other's.
