Going beyond the walls was dangerous. It always had been.
Any time someone stepped outside of the gates, there were risks.

There had been risks back at the camp in Atlanta, at Hershel's farm, the prison, and there were risks at Alexandria.

It was dangerous, but it was also a necessity.

Even more so now with their dwindling supplies and the shadow of Negan looming over their heads every damn moment.

After Negan's first visit to Alexandria, they were left with practically nothing. Just enough to keep surviving.

In order to satisfy Negan, they needed to get more supplies. And the only way to do that was to go beyond the walls and scavenge.

"You should come with us," Rick urged.

Rick, Xander and Aaron were going on a run and were trying to convince Carl and Raven to go with them.

She was by the window, looking blankly outside.

Xander was sitting in front of her, and put his hand on her knee "I can stay if you want." He spoke to her softly.

Raven didn't even look at him as she shook her head "No you should go. Rick and Aaron need your help. I'll be find here." She told him watching the houses outside blankly.

He nodded his head, before he lean foward and kissed her forehead softly.

He then stood up and walked towards his little brother and father.

"Someone's got to be here for Judith," Carl said, not taking his focus off the dartboard.

He wasn't doing very well.

His aim isn't all that good with one eye.

"There's people who want to help. We'll only be gone a few days at the most. We need supplies. They're going to be back soon," Xander said, referring to the saviours.

"Is this how it's going to be now?" Carl angrily asked.

"Yes. It is. You know that." Rick told his younger son.

Carl sighed and walked to the dartboard, retrieving the darts lodged into the wall.

"See you in a few days," Carl mumbled.

Right before Xander could leave, he leaned foward towards Carl "Keep an eye on her. Keep her safe while I'm gone, but also look after yourself." He whispered into his ear.

Carl looked at his brother, before his eye moved over at Raven, who was just blankly staring outside.

Carl looked at him and nodded his head.

Carl looked at him and nodded his head
