"Did you seriously mate him, Taehyung? You didn't just present yesterday," Namjoon scolded Taehyung, sitting beside Jin, who sighed heavily.
"It's not like I'm running away from my responsibility. I'm owning up to it, alright? I knew none of you would be supportive," Taehyung retorted, feeling the exhaustion of coming clean to his friends. Jin's distressed scent only added to his frustration.
"It's not about us being supportive, Tae. We need you to realize the gravity of the situation. What will you tell your company? What about Seokjin hyung's career?" Jungkook interjected, his voice filled with frustration.
"I fucking know all of that already. This was a fucking mistake," Taehyung began, but Yoongi cut him off with a growl.
"Do not call it a mistake. Even if you mated him unconsciously, you probably wanted to," Yoongi said firmly.
Hearing this yet again, Jin felt a pang of hurt. "I'm going to sleep," he said, standing up from the couch. "I am sorry for disappointing you all." He bowed, then looked at Jungkook. "I will make sure Taehyung's career won't take any hits." He managed a small smile.
"Hyung, that's not what I meant—" Jungkook started, but Jin didn't stick around to listen. He left the living room, questioning why Taehyung had to call his friends over when things were still unsettled.
"One more time, I hear you calling it a mistake, Taehyung, I will rip your head open. At least don't say it in front of him," Jimin hissed. "Let's go."
"I called you all here to be supportive. I know all of this is wrong, but at least as friends, be there for me," Taehyung pleaded, feeling tired.
"Taehyung, if we knew what we were coming here for, we wouldn't have. All of us clearly made Seokjin uncomfortable, and he apologized for no reason. We are here for you, but think twice before making any decisions. Once Jin is comfortable, we'll visit again," Hoseok added.
After they left, Taehyung went to Jin's room and banged on the door incessantly until it unlocked. "Why the fuck did you apologize to my friends?" Taehyung demanded.
"Because I'm the one responsible for ruining their friend's life," Jin chuckled bitterly. "Please leave me alone. I'm exhausted."
"That's not the answer to my goddamn question," Taehyung raised his voice, prompting Jin to push him away.
"I said leave me alone!" Jin yelled. Taehyung regained his composure and stood back up.
"You want the neighbors to call the police? I've said this to you before, Jin: none of this will cost you anything, but my whole fucking career will crumble. Yet here I am, owning up to my mistake. I brought you here, I've been trying to feed you, help you, but all you do is shut me out. What do you want from me?"
"Nothing. I want you to leave me alone. I never asked you to look out for me, alright? Go live your stupid life and fuck that stupid whore of yours," Jin snapped.
Unable to restrain his anger, Taehyung growled at Jin, which resulted in Jin raising his hand and slapping him across the face. But this time, Taehyung slapped him back. "You need to stop hitting me," Taehyung said firmly.
Jin covered his face, surprised. Instead of replying, he walked past Taehyung and left the house.
"Fuck," Taehyung muttered, pulling at his hair. He followed Jin outside, calling after him, but Jin didn't stop, walking barefoot down the street. "What did I get myself into?" Taehyung cried as he caught up to him. He pulled Jin into a close space. "I'm sorry, please. I shouldn't have hit you." He fell to his knees, hugging Jin's waist tightly. "Say something," he desperately pleaded, but Jin went stiff and then limp in his arms.
"Oh, my God," Taehyung muttered, carrying Jin back to their apartment, doing his best to hide Jin's face. "You'll be the death of me, Seokjin."
At home, he changed Seokjin's clothes and wiped his feet, putting ointment on his face. He knew Jin had been brought up with extra care by his parents; no one had ever yelled or raised a hand at him. Taehyung might be the first. "God, what have I done?" he murmured, rubbing his eyes, trying to dodge sleep.
How could they possibly fix all of this? He sighed, taking a good look at the mark before tending to it. After a while, he felt Jin ease, so he decided to go back to his room and sleep as well.
In the morning, Taehyung woke up before Seokjin and quickly prepared breakfast. He went to Jin's room and found him sleeping. "Wake up, Seokjin," he nudged the omega, who shuffled around in his sleep. He pulled Seokjin gently. "You need to eat. You fainted on me last night."
It took some time for Jin to wake up and recall all that had happened. "Get out of my face, Taehyung."
"I'm sorry about hitting you, alright? I know no amount of apology can take back what I did, but please, I was consumed by anger at that time. On top of that, you keep hitting me and pushing me around," Taehyung said, defeated. "Please eat this breakfast. I'll leave you alone." He placed the tray in front of Seokjin. "Here, please."
Then he exited the room, hoping Seokjin would eat and not throw the food away or vomit it up. He had to be at the studio, so he left the apartment, making a mental note that they needed to switch houses since their address was known to the media.
Meanwhile, at home, Jin stared at the food in front of him for a good twenty minutes before finally giving in to his hunger. His stomach growled at the sight of food, and he couldn't resist.
Taehyung had always been a good cook. In the beginning, he would often cook for Jin, but he stopped after noticing Jin never ate the food he made. It wasn't because Jin didn't want to; he just couldn't. His eating disorder hardly ever let him digest food. He took his time finishing the breakfast and then decided to call his manager. It would be better if he went back to work, at least to keep his mind from going insane and hopefully get his life back on track.
Later in the evening, Jin decided to cook for both of them, hoping to return the favor to Taehyung. He knew he would hardly be able to eat any of it, but that didn't stop him. Perhaps if Taehyung came back, they could eat together.
To his dismay, Taehyung didn't come home that night, even after Jin waited up late for him. The food went to waste, and Jin curled up in his blanket, trying hard not to overthink or assume the worst.
