Beside you

In the middle of the night, Seokjin wakes up abruptly, finding himself enveloped in Taehyung's embrace, his arms securely wrapped around his waist. Seokjin shifts uncomfortably, his head throbbing with pain as he recollects the events before he had passed out earlier. Taehyung, sensing Seokjin's unease, rises from behind him, concern etched on his face. Seokjin, overwhelmed with shame, finds himself unable to respond or react.

Understanding Seokjin's silence, Taehyung refrains from pressuring him to speak. Instead, he recognizes that Seokjin is probably thirsty and retrieves a water bottle, pouring a glass for him. "Drink this," Taehyung gently offers, passing the trembling omega the glass, his hand shaking uncontrollably. Taehyung assists Seokjin in drinking the water.

"Would you like to use the restroom?" Taehyung inquires, but Seokjin remains silent. Instead, he retreats back under the covers, curling up and distancing himself from Taehyung. However, his attempts to create distance falter as Taehyung's arm instinctively wraps around his waist, his face finding comfort against Seokjin's nape. "It's alright if you don't wish to speak, but if your silence stems from embarrassment, I implore you not to hold back. You have nothing to be ashamed of," Taehyung whispers, pressing a tender kiss to Seokjin's shoulder. "You're safe. Go back to sleep." he wonders if their bond allows Seokjin to sense the distress he is concealing, despite his best efforts to mask it.

The following morning, Taehyung gently assisted Jin in getting out of bed and preparing for their day. "We need to go see the doctor," Taehyung informed Jin, providing him with the reason for why he was woken up so early and the need to dress appropriately. Jin remained silent, his gaze fixed downwards, despite his desire to express his concerns about being seen in public if they casually spent time together this way.

However, Jin was sure that Taehyung understood the potential consequences of the rumors far better than anyone else, so he chose to remain quiet. Upon their arrival at the doctor's office, they patiently waited for a few minutes before being called in. The first course of action the doctor took was to replace Jin's bandages, "Everything is looking quite promising. Both your arm and leg are healing well. You should be fully recovered by next week," the doctor confidently assured them.

Taehyung, concerned about Jin's symptoms, had observed that he had observed night and took the opportunity to inquire, "Is it possible to prescribe an alternative medication? The painkillers he is currently taking seem to be causing him sleep disturbances. He frequently wakes up in the middle of the night and experiences restless legs, making it difficult for him to fall back asleep."

The physician expressed, "It is unlikely that those symptoms are a result of the medication I prescribed. Dehydration and anxiety are more probable causes. Ensure proper care is given, and that he is consuming a nutritious diet and staying hydrated," as he smiled warmly towards the couple.

On their way back home from the hospital, Taehyung made a stop at a diner where he and Seokjin used to frequent eat before their arrangement was settled. "Shall we?" he murmured as he picked up Seokjin, carrying him tenderly in his arms for what seemed like the umpteenth time that day. Seating themselves next to each other, Taehyung encouraged Jin to take a look at the menu and decide on his own order.

But despite his efforts to engage Jin in conversation or pick a meal, the omega remained quiet, showing no interest in the menu before him or Taehyung sitting next to him. Anxiously tapping his fingers on the tabletop, Taehyung watched as the server approached to take their orders. Having deemed Jin unresponsive, Taehyung placed an order for a cheeseburger and a soda for himself, while deciding on club sandwiches and a milkshake for Jin, the same choice of meal they had once shared during a previous visit together from a long time ago.

Shortly after the meal was served, Jin nibbled on his lips in silence. He had noticed a camera from outside the window discreetly recording them and debated whether to inform Taehyung, he couldn't bring himself to talk with Taehyung so instead, he raised his hand and called the waiter, "Could you please close the blinds?" He requested

Taehyung finally smiled, gazing at Jin, as he reassured him, "Don't worry, hyung, just eat your meal," as he held Jin's hand. "Do you want me to help you eat?" Taehyung offered, picking up a sandwich and bringing it to Jin's mouth. Despite Jin's initial reluctance, he ended up taking a few bites, or else Taehyung would not have stopped with his sudden obsession with public display of affection.

The highlight of the day was, even though Jin wouldn't admit it, Taehyung holding his hand and subtly playing with his fingers. Taehyung never let go of Jin's hand throughout the day. It had reminded Jin of the comfort he had always looked for in Taehyung.

Upon returning home, Taehyung found his manager waiting at the door. Seeing the couple, the manager bowed, but before he could utter a word, Taehyung signaled him not to worry Seokjin. "Could you please wait for me in the living room? I need to assist Seokjin hyung to freshen up," Taehyung instructed his manager, who nodded in understanding.

After tucking Seokjin into bed, he reassures him, "I'll just have a quick conversation with beom, then I'll be back. Call me out if you need anything." However, leaving Seokjin alone made him uneasy. Despite his reluctance, he knew it was important to have this conversation with his manager.

As soon as he stepped out of the room, shutting it close he heard, "Taehyung, please, I'm sorry," his manager, Boem-jun, pleads, "I tried calling Jimin hyung that day, but he wasn't answering. I shouldn't have sent her. I apologize. Please don't replace me with an-"

"You have no idea the extent of the serious damage caused by your reckless attitude that day," Taehyung coldly interrupts, "I don't believe I can continue working with you as my manager after this."

With a hint of embarrassment, his manager lowers his head and pleads, "I have a young child, Taehyung. Please understand. And I love you too, I enjoy working for you, Taehyung. I promise something like this will never happen again."

Taehyung lets out a tired sigh, feeling drained. "I'm not sure if it's possible -"

He is interrupted as the door to Jin's bedroom swings open, Taehyung observed the omega standing with the help of the door frame. "Please let him be, Taehyung," Jin interjects, and Boem-Jun breathes a sigh of relief, approaching Jin. However, before he could approach Jin, his movement is halted by a growl emanating from Taehyung. "I apologize, Jin hyung, it was my mistake, not Taehyung's. But I can not afford to lose this job or Taehyung. " Boem-Jun apologizes. "Alright, Boem, leave now. Let's discuss this matter at the company," Taehyung pulls his manager further away from Jin. "Jin hyung, please," he pleads.

"You're won't be replaced, don't worry," Jin reassures the manager as he is escorted out of the house by Taehyung.

"You shouldn't have gotten out of bed," Taehyung says as he supports Jin standing up, "Don't fire him," Jin responds. "Do you truly see me as heartless? Of course, that was just to frighten him," he kisses Jin's forehead. "Can we watch a movie together?" he receives no response from Seokjin, once again falling into silence.
