As the first rays of morning light filtered into the room, Seokjin stirred from his sleep to discover the bed cold and empty. His gaze lingered across the room, noting the absence of Taehyung's clothes strewn on the floor, signaling his departure. A sense of emptiness settled in his chest as he realized he was alone.
Reaching out, Seokjin's fingers brushed against the bandage covering his mating mark, a tender reminder of Taehyung's care. He couldn't help but wonder why Taehyung had left and tended to him before departing.
Summoning what little strength he had left, Seokjin pushed himself upright, his muscles protesting with each movement. Curling into himself, he hugged his knees close, tears tracing a path down his cheeks. The room felt suffocating,
Regret gnawed at him as he replayed the events of the previous night in his mind. Despite being the sober one, he realized he had failed to foresee the consequences of their actions. The ache of loneliness enveloped him, a heavy shroud that seemed impossible to shake off. Seokjin couldn't help but acknowledge the bittersweet gesture of Taehyung covering him before leaving. It was a small comfort, especially to his omega that was in agony.
Yet, the harsh reality remained—Taehyung had chosen to leave, and Seokjin bore the weight of his departure. The thought of Taehyung no longer wanting him pierced his heart, leaving him gasping for breath. As more tears fell from his eyes,
With trembling hands, he grabs his phone and switches it on, his fingers shaking from a mix of anxiety and pain from his mating bite. The screen illuminates, revealing a text from Taehyung, urging him to eat breakfast. Hope flickers in his heart, thinking Taehyung might return by night.
As the hours pass, Jin paces the apartment, his eyes swollen from tears. The food on the table grows stale, but he persists, clinging to the belief that Taehyung will come back. When midnight arrives and Taehyung is nowhere to be found, Jin sinks onto the couch, staring at his reflection in the blank TV screen. A bitter laugh escapes him at the sight of his own despair.
He reaches for a cigarette, chain-smoking without keeping count, his fingers numbly scrolling through his phone in search of Taehyung's whereabouts. The sight of Taehyung out with another omega fills him with rage and hurt. Taehyung had mentioned the omega before, admiring his beauty,
In a fit of anger, he hurls his phone across the room, the sound of shattering glass echoing in the empty space. Regret floods his mind as he realizes he lets Taehyung into his life, only to be abandoned for someone else. He believes he has destroyed everything – his career, his self-worth – all for an Alpha who wants nothing to do with him.
Seokjin had no family left. He used to, but they were gone. His parents had him when they were already old, and by the time he barely reached his twenties, they passed away from old age. He was their only child, and they showered him with everything he asked for, having waited so long for him. Seokjin was their precious blessing, but they didn't get much time with him before they were gone.
That night, Seokjin felt the absence of his parents keenly. He longed for his omega mother, wishing she were still here to comfort him. Sleep eluded him as he lay awake, lost in memories and loneliness. When morning came, he made the decision to call his manager and ask for some time off. Luckily, he didn't have any prior commitments, so getting a break was relatively easy.
Feeling abandoned by Taehyung, Seokjin struggled to figure out what to do next. The pain from his mating mark seemed to intensify with each passing day. Despite forcing himself to eat a little, his body felt like it was falling apart. He sought solace in smoking and drinking, trying to numb the ache of his broken heart.
Days blurred into one another, and before he knew it, a week had passed. His broken phone meant he couldn't receive any messages, leaving him in the dark about whether anyone was trying to reach out to him, especially Taehyung.
He needs to get up and wash himself to get rid of the smell of cigarettes and alcohol that's all over him. His house is a mess, too. This isn't how he wanted his life to be, but his body hurts too much. There's a painful mark bothering him. He wonders if Taehyung can sense he's not doing well, but they need to live together for that bond to work.
After being locked away for eight days, the intercom buzzes. He finally answers, "Yes?"
"Good afternoon, sir. Mr. Park Jimin wants to visit you."Jin thinks for a moment. Should he let Jimin in? Will Jimin be able to comfort him? Maybe not. This illness is incurable.
"Please tell him I can't see him," he says into the phone and hangs up. Jimin must be worried, but Jin doesn't care. All he can think about is the pain.On the fifteenth day, Jin found himself in a haze of laziness, his eyelids heavy as he succumbed to sleep. Unbeknownst to him, he allowed himself to drift into slumber, unaware of the looming events that awaited him upon awakening in the middle of the night.
As he stirred from his restless sleep, a sharp throb pulsed through his head, echoing the ache in his mating mark. Something felt amiss, a disconnection with his omega that sent a shiver down his spine. Rising from the bed, he felt a warm, sticky sensation trailing down his thigh, instantly alerting him to the truth of the situation. With a sinking heart, Jin hurried to the bathroom, his mind racing with fear and confusion.
Taking off his pajamas, Jin's breath caught in his throat at the sight of crimson staining his skin. Panic surged within him as he grappled with the realization that he might have conceived. Why hadn't he considered the possibility before?
Jin filled it with water, the sound of rushing liquid, bought him out of trance.
He knew he needed to bathe, so he filled the bathtub and watched as the water turned from clear to a chilling shade of blood-red. Sitting there, he couldn't bring himself to drain the water just yet, feeling an inexplicable connection to the life lost. Time seemed to blur as he remained submerged, unwilling to part with the solemn company of his unborn child. Before he realized it, he had drifted into a fitful sleep, his head resting against the cool porcelain.
He awoke to the comforting scent of vetiver and cedarwood but made no move to acknowledge the presence of the alpha who stood before him. "Damn it, you're okay," the alpha's voice cut through the silence, filled with concern. "What have you done to yourself, Seokjin?" he questioned, hoping his fears were unfounded. Seokjin remained silent, unable to meet the alpha's gaze.
"I'm asking you something! Are you even sober?" Taehyung helped Seokjin sit up, his expression collected, "Will you please speak up?"
