The next morning, Seokjin awoke with a start, reaching instinctively to the other side of the bed. Finding it empty, his heart pounded in his chest. Panic surged through him as he scanned the room for any sign of Taehyung. Memories of the last time Taehyung had abandoned him flooded his mind, bringing tears to his eyes. It seemed irrational to think Taehyung would leave him, especially here at his parents’ house, but the fear was too overwhelming to ignore.

Unable to hold back the sobs, Seokjin curled into himself, his body trembling as he tried to soothe the anxiety gnawing at his insides. "Taehyung is probably outside," he whispered to himself, clinging to that thought. Despite this reassurance, he remained paralyzed, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably.

When Taehyung finally entered the room, balancing a breakfast tray, his heart broke at the sight before him. He quickly set the tray on the table and rushed to Jin's side.

“I’m here,” he murmured, wrapping his arms around him. “I’m so sorry you had to wake up alone. This will be the last time I ever do this, I promise.” He shouldn’t have left Seokjin, not even for a moment.

Jin turned around and faced Taehyung, pulling him into a sudden hug. “I know you didn’t leave, but I can’t stop myself from thinking the worst possibilities, so don’t apologize,” he murmured.

Taehyung held him tighter. “I should apologize, Seokjin. It’s because of me that you’re struggling with these thoughts. I’m so sorry, baby.” He gently stroked Jin’s back, offering whatever comfort he could. “I cleaned you up while you were sleeping, and I brought breakfast, but I need to run an errand. What do you say?”

Jin nodded quietly, sniffling and wiping his runny nose with his hands. “Let me do it for you,” Taehyung offered, cleaning Jin’s nose and hands with a napkin. “Eat up. I’ll be back soon.” He pressed a gentle kiss to Jin’s forehead and then a quick peck on his lips.

After Taehyung left, Jin stared at the breakfast laid out before him. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked, just the way he liked them, and the brown bread toast was garnished with basil. He took a bite, tasting the eggs cooked in olive oil.

The thought struck him—had Taehyung gone grocery shopping? The attention to detail, the way everything was prepared just for him, brought him comfort. This was the Taehyung he had fallen for, the one who always knew how to bring him comfort even in the smallest ways and paid attention to all the details.

After finishing breakfast, Jin walked to the bathroom to shower. He toweled off and dressed quickly, making his way to the living room.

There, Taehyung’s parents were busy with large tubs in front of them. “We’re making kimchi,” his mother said with a warm smile.

“Let me help,” Jin offered, stepping forward to take a load of cabbage from her hands.

“How about you cut these and throw them into this tub? Okay?” She demonstrated the technique, and Jin watched carefully before mimicking her movements. He focused on the task, slicing the cabbage precisely as she had shown him, feeling proud of himself as he completed the batch.

Just as he finished, Taehyung walked in, a bag in his hand. He paused in the doorway, watching Jin interact with his parents. Jin was engrossed in their conversation, his smile genuine as he contributed to the kimchi-making process.

“I’m back,” Taehyung announced, drawing their attention. “Seokjin, can you come see me in the room for a minute?”

Jin glanced awkwardly at Taehyung’s parents. “I’ll be back,” he said quickly, excusing himself and hurrying to join Taehyung in the bedroom.
