The Funeral

Elena, Caroline, Bonnie, Damon, Stefan, Aunt Jenna, Liz, Matt, Tyler, and Jeremy all gathered around a little space where the fire occurred. It was nice of them to come even though they didn't know her, I wanted to keep her to myself for a bit... for just us. It's selfish but she was my only baby.

"I know not all of you guys knew her, well none of you knew her, I wasn't ready to show her off... it's selfish but I wanted to live a normal life" Tears stream down my face. "She was the love of my life, I never thought I could love someone so much but you don't know until you have a child what love really is. You really don't know what it is when you lose it" I start to hiccup.

"Maya, you don't-" Damon starts, putting his hand on my shoulder. "I do, she was my daughter and I killed her!" I snap, pushing him away. "Maya you didn't-" "Yes, Stefan I did, don't even try and convince me that I didn't" I cry. "You haven't looked at me the same way since that night"

I put one of her blankets on the ground and backed away, leaving them and my dead daughter behind. I've said my goodbye, it's time I leave.

"Let her be" Stefan says to someone who I'm assuming is Damon. "She needs to be alone"

I wouldn't be back at the boarding house when they came back. So I wrote a note telling them I was gonna be gone for a while and not to come look for me.

"Maya?" Damon calls. "She's not here, Damon" Damon vamps to Stefan. "She isn't here"

'Dear Damon & Stefan,
whenever you get back I'll be long gone. I'm sorry I haven't said goodbye, but I said goodbye to the only person that truly mattered... and that person I killed. I wouldn't do this but I can't live with myself, don't worry I'm alive I just don't want to feel anymore and this how to do it... I love you guys, Damon I'm sorry things had to end this way.

Once I know they read it, I walk away with tears streaming down my face. I, then, do what I never thought I'd do... turn off my humanity.
