We flew over the water routes and eventually came to a Pokemon Center outside of the cave that led to Victory Road. It was dark so we spent the night outside the cave entrance before we went inside the next morning. The tunnel entrance was dark and long but it eventually led to a lit up cavern where there were waterfalls, bridges, Pokemon and trainers. Trainers who all were trying to go through with the same intentions on getting to the Pokemon League but I proved to them that I had stronger intentions than them. They were all powerful and they all had good bonds with their Pokemon but my will to keep going on was stronger than theirs. I was psyched because at the end was the Pokemon League and Steven was there waiting for me to come and face him in battle.
"This place goes on forever! Are we ever going to make it through?" Pixie asked.
"We will! Oh, I know we will!" I said with determination.
"Hey! Look! I think we're almost there!" Kipz pointed out.
He was right. There was a light coming from up ahead so the three of us ran to it only to be disappointed when it led to another part of the cave. This part was different though. There was some grass growing in it but that was pretty much the only difference. Then I heard a voice from ahead.
"Sapphire?"
I looked up to see a familiar face,"Wally?!"
"Hi, I've been waiting for you because there's something I've been meaning to ask you."
"Sure! But, what are you doing here? You left at the Seafloor Cavern. How come?"
"I didn't think I was strong. I still don't think I am and I think I'm letting down my Pokemon because of that. Which is why I need to battle you! I need to see what I can do so I don't let down my Pokemon! I know that I don't need to be strong but I know that I need to figure out how to not let my Pokemon down which I why I need to battle you!"
"If it's a battle you want, then that's fine with me! I'd be happy to battle you and see how far you've come when I helped you catch your first Pokemon."
"Okay! Then, let's go!"
We each threw a Poke Ball that contained out first Pokemon inside. Wally had sent out his Altaria, Fluffy, and I had sent out Sparkzette.
"Fluffy! Use Sing!"
"Sparkzette! Use Thunder!"
Fluffy started singing and colored music notes started to fly towards Sparkzette who jumped out of the way before she raised her paw into the air and aimed it at the ground. A lightning bolt was sent down but Fluffy managed to dodge it.
"Use Hyper Voice!"
"Wild Charge go!"
Fluffy sent out a shock wave with his voice but Sparkzette dodged it before she became cloaked with electricity. She jumped above Fluffy before she slammed into the Humming Pokemon. It was a critical-hit and the dragon type Pokemon was knocked out. Wally recalled Fluffy back to his Poke Ball and I did the same with Sparkzette.
"Go Cassie!"
"Let's go Jet!"
Wally sent out Cassie, who was now a Gardevoir, and I sent out Jet.
"Wow! Cassie evolved, huh?"
"Yeah, and she's pretty powerful. I also see that Latios is on your side now."
"That's right! Okay Jet! Let's use Dragon Pulse!"
"Cassie! Use Shadow Ball!"
Latios fired a teal colored orb from his mouth as Cassie fired a purplish-black orb and the two attacks went right past each other which it both Pokemon.
"Cassie! Magical Leaf!"
"Use Luster Purge!"
Bright green leaves surrounded Cassie before they went straight towards Jet who had just fired a purple aura from his mouth. The aura shattered the leaves and hit Cassie, knocking her out.
"You're pretty good Sapphire!" Wally said returning Cassie to her Poke Ball.
"Thanks!"
"I think...I think I've learned quite a bit from this battle already."
"And what would that be?"
"I think that as long as I trust my Pokemon and that they have faith in me, we'll have a strong will to win, even if we end up being defeated in the end."
"There's more to that though," I said as I recalled Jet back to his Poke Ball.
"What's that?"
"You need to have a strong bond," I said as I held up my left wrist with my Mega Bracelet on it,"And both you and your Pokemon must have fun as well when you battle!"
"I see. Okay, last Pokemon! Let's go Speedy!"
Wally sent out Speedy, his Blaziken, and Kipz stepped forward to battle. I touched the Key Stone on the Mega Bracelet as Wally touched the Key Stone on his Mega Pendant. Both of our Pokemon started to change shape and then they transformed which unleashed a powerful energy from them.
"Speedy! Hi Jump Kick!"
"Kipz! Use Brick Break!"
Speedy jumped up into the air before coming down towards Kipz who swung one of his glowing orange-red arms at the incoming attack. Both attacks collided and Kipz slid backwards a little as Speedy did a back flip before he roared as he went into an attack stance.
"That was pretty good! Speedy seems to be pretty strong!"
"He is! Now, watch this! Use Power-Up Punch!"
"Kipz! Use Earthquake!"
Speedy's arm glowed red and he ran towards Kipz at a fast speed and punched him before he even had the chance to attack. Then he jumped backwards just as Kipz shook it off and slammed his huge arms into the ground. A crack opened beneath Speedy and he fell in and got squished by it before it disappeared and he stood up.
"Even after that attack? Wow! And the speed of that Power-Up Punch too! Was that due to Speed Boost?"
"Yup! When I went to the Battle Frontier to train my Pokemon, I met my master, and he taught me how to use Mega Evolution and how to make good use of Speedy and all of my other Pokemon's abilities and attacks."
"Well, you've definitely have improved a lot since I battled alongside you at Jagged Pass."
"I know and if you hadn't helped me catch my first Pokemon, who knows? I wouldn't be this far and I know that! Okay, let's finish this! Speedy, use Blaze Kick!"
"Kipz! Use Waterfall!"
Speedy's right leg became cloaked in flames as Kipz became cloaked in water and the two Pokemon attacked. Their attacks collided which created steam. When the steam cleared I saw that both Pokemon had changed back into their normal forms and were knocked out. We recalled them back to their Poke Balls so they could get some rest.
"I think that was a good battle. Do you think you got what you needed Wally?" I asked.
"Yes, I think I did. Thanks to you, I believe I figured out what I need to do. Although, before I do that I'm going to head back home to Petalburg so I can tell my parents what I learned on my journey. I don't want them to worry. What about you Sapphire?"
"Well, I'm going to challenge the Pokemon League and after that, I think I'll head back home as well so I can decide on what I should do next. It won't matter whether I win or lose there, I'll still head home anyways."
"That sounds good. I'll see you around then."
"Okay, see ya later."
We walked past each other as I exited the cave and he went deeper into the cave, for some reason. When Pixie and I exited the cave it was almost dark outside but up ahead was a huge building that loomed ahead. It looked like it was the Pokemon League.
"You know, I think I can understand why it's so hard to find this place," Pixie said.
"I know," I said looking around us. There were huge rock walls stretching above us and we appeared to be in the middle of the mountains in the middle of nowhere, "Well, let's get some rest and tomorrow, we'll challenge the Pokemon League!"
