The wind started to kick up, and fresh air started to settle in the wind. It was just another afternoon of hiding in the tall birch tree from my father. Screw it! Gym Leader my butt, I'd rather fight battles my own way, not yours! I thought. Those same thoughts just kept racing through my mind, until my sister's voice snapped me out of them.
"Sapphire! I know you're hiding here! Please stop ignoring me and come out!"
"Sigh, when will she ever learn," I mumbled to myself and climbed down the tree.
I could blend in with nature, so she probably couldn't even see me in the lowest branch. I changed back and got to the bottom of the tree, but then I heard something.
"Sapphire, come-"
I raised my finger to my lips to quiet her. She just nodded and stood back, I closed my eyes and waited. Then, it started to move, closer and closer it came stalking us. It stopped, I could tell it was tensing up, getting ready to attack. Then it leaped out of a nearby bush, but I was ready with Crimson's Poke Ball in my right hand.
"Crimson, use Tackle!"
Crimson came out of the Poke Ball and smashed into the unknown opponent. It fell to the ground defeated, it was a Zigzagoon.
"Sis, I think you're as strong as Dad."
"Nah, I still have more to learn. Especially if I want to become stronger," I said.
"You're not talking about collecting Gym Badges again are you? Dad's going to be angry when he finds out."
Oops, I didn't really mean to say that. Gotta think of something fast, wait, I know!
"When I meant becoming stronger, I meant being a stronger Gym Leader than Dad."
"Ooohhh! Okay, well, Mom wants you home before eight, so you have two more hours."
"Alright, bye sis."
She started to walk away, man, that was close. I had to be more careful, but I still wanted to go a journey.
"Crimson, at this rate, I don't think I'll be able to start going on a Pokemon journey with you," I said.
"Why don't you ask Ruby? Isn't Professor Birch his father?" the little Poochyena asked.
"I would, but, Professor Birch is a friend of my dad's so, he would probably tell him."
"Then, what are you going to do about it. You can't just steal a Pokedex from him. You'd get sent to jail, you could-"
"What did you just say?"
"You could get sent to jail-"
"No, before that."
"You could just steal a Pokedex? Wait a minute, are you actually going to do that?!"
"You mean, are we going to do that? And the answer is yes!"
"Oh great, me and my big mouth... Why'd I have to go and open it?"
"Because you're smart Crimson and you like sharing your ideas."
"Oh right. But how are you--WE--going to steal a Pokedex?"
"With a little help, and I guess we probably won't technically steal it."
"Oh no, I have a bad idea about this," Crimson said as I returned her to her Poke Ball.
I took off running, I knew we needed help, so help we had to get. And I knew of only one person who would do so. I stopped beside the house and climbed up the oak tree that was close to a window. He should be home, man, he better be, I thought to myself. I sat down on a tree branch close to the window and let Crimson out again. She got on top of my shoulder and got a good look inside. There he was, listening to music while sewing something up for his Skitty. I rolled my eyes and picked up a pebble and threw it at the window. Clack! I threw two. Clack clack! Three. Clack, clack, CLACK! He finally looked up and saw me outside. He got up from his sewing and came to the window and opened it.
"Hey Sapphire? What do you want?"
"I need your help Ruby," I answered and jumped onto the window-sill and into his bedroom.
"Why do you need my help?"
"My Dad won't let me go on a journey, so I need help getting a Pokedex."
"You want me to help? You know I'll get in trouble if I help you!"
"Please? I really want one, but-"
"Your father says no. I know all of this. And why are you asking me for help anyways?"
"I trust you."
"You do?"
"Yeah, of course. You've been one of my best friends since I moved here five years ago!"
"Okay, okay, fine. You win, I'll help."
"Okay, so your Dad is going out in the field on Route 101 tomorrow, right?" I asked.
"Yeah."
"Well I want you to meet me there in the tall grass. I tell you what to do from there."
"Alright," Ruby said looking at Kiki his Skitty.
"Okay, see you tomorrow at noon-ish," I said as I got on the window-sill with Crimson on my shoulder.
"Bye Sapphire!"
"Bye!"
Bam! I jumped off the window-sill and onto the tree branch. I grabbed it with my hands and swung on it and jumped onto the next tree branch, then I landed on the ground. I ran back home so I could get some sleep, I opened the door and found my mom in the kitchen making dinner.
"Where's Dad?" I asked.
"He's going to be at the Gym in Petalburg for a few weeks again. He has to go there every two weeks."
"I know, I just forgot that he had to leave today," I said.
I ran upstairs and into my bedroom, but it wouldn't be the place where I would be sleeping for much longer. If the plan worked, Crimson and I would finally be sleeping outdoors and going on our training journey and making lots of new Pokemon friends. The time has finally come!
