Both of our Pokemon came out of their Poke Balls at once in blue and white lights. I had sent out Sparkzette and Steven had sent out his Skarmory. Even though I had the distinct type advantage I still couldn't put my guard down for even one second during this battle. Steven had promised that he would go all out and I was going to do the same as well.
"Sparkzette! Use Thunder!"
"Skarmory! Use Protect!"
Sparkzette raised her paw up into the air before moving it downward to have a huge thunderbolt to come down onto Skarmory. Well, it would've but a teal colored shield surrounded Skarmory, protecting him from our attack.
"Not bad Sapphire but you're going to have to do more than that if you're going to want to defeat Skarmory with an electric type move."
"I wouldn't be so sure about that! Sparkzette! Use Thunder again!"
"Skarmory! Use Steel Wing on the ground!"
Skarmory's wings turned into a steel color and he held one up in the air as the other wing touched the ground. Another thunderbolt dropped onto him but it didn't look like it did a thing to the Armor Bird Pokemon. Even if he did use his wings as a lightning rod he at least still should've taken some damage.
"So that's your strategy against electric types. You use Steel Wing like a lightning rod, don't you?"
"That's right! Alright Skarmory! Use Brave Bird!"
"Sparkzette! Use Wild Charge!"
Sparkzette became cloaked in electricity while Skarmory became cloaked in a red flame before he spread his wings and the flame turned into a bright blue color. Both Pokemon charged at each other head on. Their attacks clashed and neither one of them appeared to give in. Although, it appeared that Sparkzette had the upper hand on the attack. Then the attacks created an explosion causing both of our Pokemon to fly backwards. When the smoke cleared I saw that Skarmory was knocked out and that Sparkzette was still standing. Steven returned the fallen Pokemon back to its Poke Ball and then sent out his next Pokemon, a Claydol.
"It's no surprise that you would overcome my strategy with Skarmory very easily but that doesn't mean that the rest of this battle will be the same."
"I know. Okay, since Claydol is a ground type Pokemon, we'll use this move! Use Signal Beam!"
"Claydol! Light Screen!"
Sparkzette fired a rainbow colored light from the end of her tail but when it reached Claydol, a yellow wall of light made some of our attack bounce off of it.
"Okay! We'll go with this move! Sparkzette! Use Last Resort!"
"Claydol! Use Reflect!"
Sparkzette became cloaked in an orange light and she then slammed her attack into a glass looking barrier that had appeared in front of Claydol.
"It doesn't matter what kind of moves you attack us with. We'll just weaken them for a bit with Reflect and Light Screen. Now Claydol! Use Trick Room!"
"Trick Room? What's that?"
"You'll see."
Just then Claydol's eyes glowed purple and a clear, light purple box surrounded all of us. It looked like we were trapped inside of it but it then disappeared. Whatever kind of move it was we were going to have to keep our guard up.
"Sparkzette, I don't know what kind of move Trick Room is so be careful."
"Okay, will do!"
"Alright then! Use Signal Beam!"
"Claydol! Earthquake!"
All of a sudden Claydol slammed the ground and a fissure appeared underneath Sparkzette, which squeezed her and then when the fissure disappeared she was knocked out. It happened so fast that we didn't even get a chance to attack, much less to respond.
