I felt bad having to do that, especially since I didn't give it to her, but something stopped me. I didn't know what it was but something did. Skarmory looked at me and even though I couldn't undertsand Pokemon like she did I could but in a different way. He looked at me as if he were asking,"Why didn't you give her the Fire Stone?" I wanted to respond but I knew the words wouldn't come out right. Although I didn't even know why I didn't in the first place. I guess I just got cold feet but I really didn't know why. Then I remembered why. It was an embarrassing secret that I didn't even want to think about so I shoved it out of my mind along with the Fire Stone and focused on where we were going.
It wasn't very long until we arrived to the location I was called to, the Mossdeep Space Center. They didn't tell me why they wanted me to come here. They just said that it was very important and that I was the only one for the job. Even though this was an important job for a strong trainer they could've just called the Gym Leaders, Tate and Liza, to help, right? Wrong, well somewhat. If I wasn't here in Mossdeep City, and not out finding rare stones or training my Pokemon, they would've done that instead but since I was here they called me. It was because I was stronger than the Gym Leaders, much stronger, so that's more of the reason why as well.
The reason why I was stronger than Tate and Liza was another secret but it was really only a secret I kept away from her, Sapphire. I would've told her a while ago but I kept my mouth shut, probably for the same reason why I didn't give her the Fire Stone? No. I shook my head at that thought. I was now thinking too hard. I had to focus on what was going on now and then I would solve that problem, or fix it, when I came to that bridge.
I sighed and then opened the door and we entered inside. There were people at desks working with papers piled high and others running back and forth with Psychic type Pokemon helping them by making sure that no one would fall or something would fall. A woman with a Spoink hopping right beside her looked up from her desk and noticed Skarmory and I.
"Oh Steven. They want to see you on the third floor."
"Alright but what do they want me for?"
"That's something that you're going to have to ask. I really don't know to be honest."
Before I could say anything else she went back to work at her computer while her Spoink started organizing the huge stack of papers on her desk and filing them into a filing cabinet. It seemed like something was going on because they did seem to know something but either they didn't want to tell me or they were trying to not think about it. Whatever was going on there seemed to be an uneasy presence here. Like a bolt of lightning about to strike down or something like that. It just didn't seem like a normal work day it. It felt like something bad was about to happen and I was about to possibly find out what it was.
We went up the first flight of stairs and then the next that would lead to the top floor.
"What do you think they want us for Skarmory?"
I knew it was a dumb question but I still asked it anyways. Skarmory just gave me a look as if saying,"Do I look like I know what this is all about? I'm just as clueless as you are."
