I woke up to a howling outside on a rainy night. There were rain drops hitting my bedroom window like small pebbles falling into a pond. It was dark outside, but the howling outside I was listening to was making me very curious. I could even understand it, it was saying, "Why do I feel so lonely?! Why don't I have any friends?! Why was I abandoned moon, why?!"
I could always somehow understand Pokemon ever since we moved to Hoenn from Johto three years ago, but a Pokemon who seemed lonely always made it feel like it was a special one. I got out of my warm bed and put on my clothes. My red bandana was snug on my head, so was my red and black shirt, which had a white skirt attached to it with black edges, along with black leggings. I was probably going to have to get some new ones soon, I should ask my mom for some new ones tomorrow, I thought. I slipped my sneakers on and just in case, I grabbed the Poke Ball I stole from my dad and sneaked out of my room.
The house was quiet, except for my little sister Cassidy who was snoring. I tip-toed downstairs into the kitchen and got to the front door. My jacket hung on the coat rack, but I decided not to grab it, I wasn't going to be out for very long. I slowly unlocked the door so no one would hear it and stepped out into the cold, wet, rainy night. The howling hadn't stopped so I followed the sound from where it was coming from.
My shoes squelched on the wet muddy grass, but I didn't really care, I just kept walking through Littleroot Town 'till I got to the edge of it. Where I stopped wasn't very far from my house, but I was still worried that my father would catch me. I'm eleven, old enough to go on a Pokemon journey if I want to, and I do! But no, my father won't let me, he'd rather have me watch and listen to his lectures about being a Gym Leader, like him. But I'd rather collect Gym Badges from them instead! I thought. So I guess that's why I don't have any Pokemon yet, so I don't have to train with my father.
I kept walking to the howling sound, if this was a Pokemon, I wanted to capture it. Even though I might end up training with my dad, training sounded a lot better than lectures. I stopped underneath a tall birch tree, and in it's roots lay a cardboard box with a Poochyena inside of it howling. It stopped and looked up at me when it noticed me and asked, "Are you going to hurt me?"
"No, I would never hurt a Pokemon. Especially one who's so lonely," I answered.
"Promise?" she asked.
"I promise."
"Okay! Yay!" She yipped and jumped out of the box and into my arms, "What's your name?"
"Sapphire."
"I like that name. My last trainer called me Crimson before he abandoned me."
"Why'd he call you Crimson?" I asked.
Crimson lifted her fore-paws revealing red pads instead of the usual grey. I know this because my friend Ruby told me.
"Sapphire? Where'd ya go? I can't see you?"
"I'm right here-"
I looked down to see that I couldn't see Crimson, or the rest of me for that matter. I started to tense, then I could see myself again. I calmed into a state of peace when I disappeared again, I stayed calm but didn't tense up and my body appeared again. I guess I could "blend in with nature" as someone would say because this power was a rare ability, and people who have it are said to have the spirit of a Pokemon within them. And I guess I'm one of those people.
"Crimson, how would you like to be my Pokemon?" I asked her.
"You mean it?! Of course!" She yipped gleefully.
"Alright then."
I held the Poke Ball and Crimson pushed the button on it and was sucked in by a red light. I looked at Crimson inside of the Poke Ball and she seemed happy. I knew we were going to be good friends for a long time, but I had to go home now before anyone, especially my father, were to find out that I was gone. I took off running into the rainy night back home with Crimson safely inside of her Poke Ball in my right hand.
