Rick and Michonne finally arrived at the Hilltop. Everyone welcomed the couple. But not very happily considering what had happened the night before and what they have lost.
Athena heard that her father and Rick were out again, being lookouts for Maggie. But to be truthful the Dixon girl didn't really cared about what they were doing, because she had other more important things to do.
She found a quiet place behind the palace and near the pens with the Saviors. She was sitting on a bench, clutching something very important in her hands. Something that will change her view about a lot of things.
Carl's letter. The young boy's last words towards the Dixon girl, were written in a letter that was specifically for her.
Athena built up her courage, swallowed her tears and finally opened the letter.
Athena,
I'm writing this to you, so you know how much I love you and how much you meant for me. How much I looked up to you. I always thought that you were the bravest person I have ever met. You are the strongest person I know. You never showed any kind of weakness and I always found that remarkable.
I remember when I first met you. You came back from Atlanta with my dad, and I remember the happiness you hold in your eyes as you saw Binni, Ji, Chan and Minho, alive and well. Then I remember when you saw Daryl. I remember how happy he was to find out that you were alive and back in his arms. That was maybe the first time, I've seen Daryl this happy.
I remember at Hershel's farm how much you and Changbin both grew. You both became important part for the group. You both grew a lot in front of my dad's eyes, and he trully listened to you and Binni.
When we first met Negan, I remember how you stood there on your knees like everyone else, but you still stood up with your head up high. Just like Changbin. The two of you were always the bravest people in the group. You two will look the Devil in the eyes and will tell him 'Fuck you' with your heads up high like always. Because that's who you two are.
Fighters, survivers, best friends, parents.
That's how I know that your kid is going to be one of the most powerful and bravest kid out there. Because his/hers parents are like that.
You two are the future, you guys can stop it. You don't have to kill Negan. Like I said to dad 'There is always something after...' help him understand that Athena. Make him listen to you, just like before. You are the future.

Athena had fresh tears streaming down her face as she read Carl's letter for her. He wanted from her to do the impossible thing to do. For her to talk with Rick and convince him that he doesn't need to kill Negan.
