His knuckles hit my forearms with the force of a hammer but little damage was done.
"Hah, I guess it works" I chuckled springing back.
"I'm not gonna waste any time." Another punch connects this time on my back.
I might've been able to dodge but he got into my blind spot before I could react.
I spring up into the air and wait for an attack. As I predicted, Mr. Hong blitzes behind me for another attack.
The attack connects and this time it does even less damage than before halting on impact.
I quickly twist my body and grip onto his arm. I swing all my weight into slamming him into the ground.
The ground makes a cracking sound and shoots debris and dust everywhere.
As the smoke clears the only person restrained was me.
"That was good. You pushed me to go past my limit for this exam. Well done Kayui." He said helping me up from the ground.
"I saw what you were doing. You covered your entire body in your element and moved it to the points of contact at will. Very good." He applauded.
"Yeah," I grumbled reluctantly, rubbing my throbbing chin due to the impact.
A ton of "well done"s and "good job"s come from the others but it all feels like pity.
The rest of the students go as well but I don't see anything extremely impressive, but everyone did well.
After everyone goes we practice individually.
I practice with Taz, his new ability being large-scale attacks. A good match for my defense-oriented move.
Attacking is difficult to do while trying to maintain the aura. So, after a while, I decided it'd be easy to deactivate it when I attack or if I need full speed.
"Getting faster already I see." Said Modoru walking past.
"Yeah still not as fast as before!" Taz yelled out dodging my attacks.
Taz has a bad habit of being too eager to attack. It could help sometimes but if his opponent has any sense it'll become his downfall.
He jumps back just far enough to catch his breath and counter. I notice dark ice crystals starting to form in the air so I jump Back.
His ice is so cold it freezes air So it's a dead giveaway of an attack.
"Here's a big one kid," he says as he swings his arm upwards transforming the vast area in front of him into a dark sturdy ice.
I use it to my advantage shooting a wide beam through the thick ice barely piercing all the way through to have a view of the other side forcing him to move.
Knowing how Taz attacks I assume he's making his way over the enormous iceberg.
"Good thing we have good facilities. Anywhere else and the entire place would have been decimated." Says Modoru standing to the side.
"Yeah, this thing is at least 10 stories high." I shoot back before deactivating my aura.
"Let's try something I've been working on," I say to myself before putting all my focus into my right hand.
I point it upwards toward the top of the chunk of darkness.
"FLY" I yell as a purple orb shoots up from my hand towards the top of the iceberg.
I follow closely behind. Quickly a fist destroys my creation.
"A decoy?" Taz says to himself before I grab his collar.
"Watch this," I yell to Taz as I swing him downwards now my knee on his chest and his right arm in my grasp.
I load aura in my right hand while activating my cloak once again.
I point my hand upwards and release the power in my palm to shoot us downwards at enough speed for Taz to be unable to react.
"Thud" We land in a soft wood made by Modoru.
"I didn't want you to get too hurt," he laughed.
"Don't worry I restrained myself," I laughed back.
"You cheated man. Next time I won't fall for the same trick." Taz said visibly angry.
"Well done boys. I see you've done it again Kayui." Mr. Hong said from behind us.
"Woah, I didn't see you there." Said Modoru a little shaken.
"You've learned how to do incantations and a new ability all in one battle. Extremely impressive."
"Taz your brute strength is on another level, this is quite a feat. Oh and good save Modoru." Mr.Hong Said as all three of us stood in confusion.
"What's an incantation?" I asked first before the others could.
"It's what you did. Using words to focus your altitude. It takes skill to learn I'm surprised quite frankly."
[A few hours later]
"How old are you kid? This has to be a joke!" Sirens Blare and people call out for help all around me.
"I guess I'll have to do it on my own. I've always loved a good fight anyway." I said with a nervous smirk on my face.
