A wave of power resonated off the blade and it glowed with a purple hue that was only visible to me.
It felt lighter than a normal blade, I could feel it was much more powerful.
"Let's test it out then," I think to myself before swinging the sword.
A gust of wind from the swing blows leaves off of the ground.
"I need to work on my swordsmanship skills," I say before thinking about weapons I'm better with.
In an instant, the blade transformed again chain with a spear on the end.
"Woah, this is way cooler than I thought."
[Sometime Later]
After some time training with this thing, I think I'm getting the hang of it, but it's draining my body like never before.
Each time I use it and recover my altitude levels seem to be increasing on the upside though.
By the time I walk out the training hall doors, it's pitch black outside.
"I have to get home mom is gonna kill me!" I say before rushing off towards my home.
[The Next Day]
"Kayui you need to learn about altitude limitations." A high-pitched voice screeches at me.
"I get it I get it, This is only temporary it'll only make me stronger," I say back weakly but with confidence.
The drawbacks from training with that weird energy were pretty large but I feel like it was worth it.
Ever since I fell asleep I've been bedridden almost completely unable to move. But I can feel my body is stronger than before.
"You can't expend all your altitude like this, it'll start draining your life. Especially with an ability like yours" Kenko continued to exclaim.
"Who let you guys in here?" I say slightly confused.
"You're mom did she's pretty nice man" Taz's head peaks in from my doorway with a large smile.
[Some hours later]
"Let us see it," Moduru says with a little excitement.
I pull out the orb and it lights up purple before abruptly transforming into a short sword.
"That energy is intense" Taz exclaims from behind Modoru.
The energy flowing from it this time was even more intense than from the training room. It felt more under my control.
Without thinking about it I sent a wave of aura into the blade and it grew in size sending off a shockwave.
Birds and animals ran out of the forest and all three of my friends quickly backed away.
My body became weak again and the sword shrank and fell back to the floor.
"Where'd you get that thing Kayui?" Kenko said with fear obvious in her town.
"Makil gave it to me" I reply slightly worried.
She made an understanding face and came back closer to me. "Well, let's train to get stronger with it!"
[A few weeks later]
"Welcome back class everyone. I hope you enjoyed your break. Today we'll be studying things only warriors know about altitude."
"I'm bored already," Taz says quite loudly to Mr.Wong's dismay.
"You see altitude isn't new to our society, but it is very mysterious. It has many properties and abilities we're yet to discover." Said Mr.Wong.
"A big one is the way Altitude and Element usage correlate with your physical body. Without altitude, your body is as useless as a normal human. The more reserves and potency of your altitude the stronger your body is. Keep that in mind when you battle."
"The altitude also directly affects your stamina and power output. The more you use your power the weaker you become."
"Blah blah blah," I thought to myself.
I could use this time for training. Zoning out I close my eyes and begin focusing on the altitude in my own body.
A familiar dark fog blocked my view, but through the fog, I could see I purple spiraling moon. In the center was an unstable clear hue and an even smaller green hue almost drowned out by the other two.
The stars all glowed purple with the dark moon but a lot of the sky was almost empty not including the parts blocked off by the fog.
"Kayui?" A voice rang out. "Come on class is over time for combat training."
The equipment for combat training in this grade is way more advanced than the ones we used last school year, but I don't need any of it.
"I just wanna spar Mr. Hong," I said to my homeroom teacher. "These other machines aren't very useful for me I already grew over the summer I need more experience."
"Kayui these machines can do more for you than you've ever imagined just try one out. Here's a perfect one for what you're looking for."
He led me to what looked like an old hay target dummy with a stone on the head.
He placed his hand on the stone and it lit up. "Have fun" he said walking away with a smile.
In an instant, the dummy became more human-like and rushed toward me with speed that outmatched my own.
With no time dodge, I slam my aura-filled leg into the ground creating an earth wall.
The dummy broke through it with ease but gave me enough time to draw my weapon.
"Didn't think I'd have to use this so early" I said wearily.
