Building: Using an 1960 design, MS München was built in the Cockerill Shipyards, located in Belgium, on the May 12th, 1972. Her Maiden voyage was in December 9th.

Registration: Hapag-Llyod, formerly Hamburg-Amerika Line and Norddeutscher Llyod, respectevely. Today the fifth largest shipping container company in the World.

Design: carry a small number of barges (lighters). Equipped with a large crane for individual (un)loading the barges. Thus it was more efficient for unloading and distribute cargo, as tugboats are able to tow barges into smaller waterways.
