Scarlett’s POV
“You haven’t left this room have you?” Mildred asks and I shake my head. “Well good thing we stopped by your house before coming here. We have fresh clothes to last you both a week and you can take a shower in the small bathroom they have attached to Maya’s room.” Mildred says. “That explains why Sherman brought such a big bag.” I chuckle. “Here we also picked up some travel size shampoo and conditioner and body wash.” Mildred says, pulling a small bag out of her purse. “Will you hold her while I shower?” I ask and Sherman shoots out of his chair. “Like you even have to ask.” He says and lies down on maya’s other side and opens his arms for me to place her in.

Sherman’s POV
“Take as long as you need you know he won’t let her go. And maybe have a good cry while in the shower.” Mildred says to Scarlett. “I probably will thank you both for being here.” Scarlett says and I wave her off with my free hand. “We are always here when you need us. The 4077th has refused to leave the waiting room.” I tell her and she chuckles while nodding her head. “Mmm Mama?” Maya asks, looking at my side as she opens her eyes. “No it’s Grandpa.” I tell her. “

Scarlett’s POV
You dwess like Mama.” Maya says snuggling into Sherman’s side looking up at him with so much love. I am so glad that Louri and the kids have Sherman and Mildred in their lives. They adore them. “Because they’re both Marines.” Mildred says and Maya smiles at her. “You are like Mama you keep your pwomises.” She is clearly talking about when Mildred said they would be here when she wakes and it makes my heart swell. “Semper Fi.” Sherman says. “Ooh Rah.” Louri says while still asleep. “Such a Marine.” I say as I laugh at my wife. “What does Semper Fi mean?” Maya asks of course she can pronounce Semper Fi right; she is so Louri’s daughter. “It means always faithful.” I tell her and she nods. “Oh thank god Maya you’re ok.” We hear a voice say and my blood boils as I see Maya is scared. “Get out Lisa you are scaring her.” I say almost in a growl as I lay next to Maya and Sherman stands up protectively. “You hurt my family.” He says lowly in his dad voice which I think is more intimidating than his marine voice. “Mommy I scwared.” Maya says. “Out of the room now.” Mildred says and the three of them step into the hall that’s when the yelling starts and Louri wakes up.
“YOU ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!!” I hear Mildred shout. “OH SHUT UP YOU AREN’T HER MOTHER!! AND YOU AREN’T MAYA GRANDMOTHER!!” We hear Lisa yell and Louri sees the fear in Maya’s eyes and I see something snap in her. “GET THE FUCK OUT!!! DO NOT DISRESPECT MY MOTHER!!!” Louri screams at Lisa as she slams the door behind her. “I am your Mother!” She shouts. “Biologically yes you are. But that’s it! You have scared my daughter who is lying in a hospital bed with stitches almost down her entire leg, a broken arm and had to have surgery. She’s been through enough! You scare her Lisa! You have said horrible things about her mother in front of her and her siblings!! For fucks sake you let my son take an uber to the hospital in the middle of the night ALONE!!! Who even told you about the accident?” Louri rants. “It’s all over the news about the lead singer of Milo Green getting in an accident with his niece in the car. I know Lizzie doesn’t have any nieces other than my granddaughters.” She says. “They! Are! Not! Your! Grandkids!” Louri yells. “It’s ok sweetie Mommy, Mama, Grandpa, and Grandma are all here and will keep you safe.” I soothe my crying child. “I don’t like her, she mean to you Mommy.” Maya sniffles. “Well you don’t need to worry about that hun.” I tell her I hate that the kids have seen and heard the way Lisa has acted and are now scared of her. “Hey it’s ok she’s gone. Oh sweetie, it's ok.” Louri says trying to comfort Maya as she runs her hand through her hair. “I don’t wike her she’s mean to Mommy.” Maya says. “Sweetheart, you don’t need to worry about me. Your Mama always has my back. I'm ok.” Scarlett says and Maya seems to be calming down. Louri lays down on the small amount of space left on Maya’s bed so she can be close to her knowing that makes her feel better. “I still can’t believe you had her escorted out by the 4077th.” Sherman says. “You had her escorted out?” I ask. “I’m sick of her and all the things she’s said and done. I just want her to stay away from us, from you.” Louri tells me and I nod my head with a faint smile.
