Carolina passed four sponsor gifts on the way out of the cave, but she didn't bother opening them. She knew none of them had medicine or anything else she desperately needed. All of them contained food.

She could smell the seaweed bread from the back of the cave.

There were no more sharks in the water. With only two people left, the Capitol wanted a bloody fight, not a shark attack. Carolina would give them one to remember.

When Carolina got to the cornucopia, she slowly walked around, using the flowers to hide herself. The cornucopia was cleared out. Every weapon, item of food, and backpack was either claimed by a tribute or taken out during the Feast.

Carolina decided to take a step into the clearing, thinking she was the first of the final two to reach the cornucopia.

She was wrong.

Loud footsteps came running behind her, colliding against her and throwing her on the ground before she could turn around. Her spears flew out of her hands and crashed to the ground. Carolina swung her head back, hitting Sicily in the nose loudly with a crunch. Sicily stumbled back for a second, allowing Carolina to crawl away.

Carolina turned onto her back, slowly inching away from the District 1 girl. Sicily's nose was clearly broken. Blood was flowing down her face, mixing with the dried blood that was already there. It dripped into her mouth, making her sickening smile even more terrifying.

Carolina didn't think the blood that was already on her face came from any injury Sicily had received but from every tribute that crossed her path.

The girl was so focused on Sicily's bloody face that she hadn't even noticed she had backed into the flowers again. Carolina stuck her right hand back to hold herself up, but the second she touched the ground, she flinched and a burning pain shot up through her hand and up her arm. She looked down and saw a bee crushed underneath her palm.

"Fuck!" Carolina gasped.

She tried to brush the bee off of her, but it was too late. Her hand was already swelling up. Carolina now had five minutes to end the games, or she would be the one going home in a body bag.

She eyed the spears that had fallen out of her hand when she first walked into the clearing. Sicily followed her gaze, then looked back at Carolina. The two girls raced to the spears, reaching them at the same time. Sicily immediately swung for the side of Carolina's head, treating the spear like a staff.

She quickly blocked Sicily's attack, causing the two spears to collide and sound a loud bang through the arena. She recovered fast, going for Carolina's side next. Carolina tried to deflect every attack that came from Sicily, but the bee sting started to affect her. Her head was spinning so much that she missed Siciliy swinging the spear at the backs of her knees, throwing Carolina onto her back, and knocking the wind out of her.

Sicily threw herself on top of Carolina before she could get up. Her knee dug into Carolina's wounded thigh, and she shoved her forearm against her chest, putting all of her weight into it.

"Where's the weakling?" Sicily asked, feigning concern. "Aww, did he die? What a surprise."

"Shut up," Carolina spit. "Don't talk about him."

"My only regret is that I wasn't the one to kill him. But, your death will make up for it. Don't worry, I'll make it slow and very painful." Sicily was too caught up in the moment that she failed to notice that Carolina's hands were still functional. Her right hand was out of function from the bee sting, but she had luckily put the District 7 boy's ax on her left side. "Maybe I'll start by cutting off all of your limbs, one by one. Then I'll carve your heart out and crush it under my foot. Either way, I am going to give the Capitol the best finale to the Hunger Games they have seen in years. I am going to be praised for my ruthlessness for years to come, and you will be forgotten in a week."
