Carolina woke up to two medics hovering over her. An oxygen mask was placed over her mouth, and an array of wires were placed onto her arms, tracking her vitals. Physically, Carolina felt fine, but internally, she was panicking.

She didn't know where she was. She didn't recognize the doctors. All she knew was that the Capitol was creative when it came to torture. She couldn't trust a single thing around her.

I have to get out of here.

Now.

The second one of the doctors placed a cold, wet rag on her arm, Carolina sprang into action.

She pulled the mask off her face and threw it at the woman who was trying to clean her. The woman jumped back as it hit her face, and the other doctor's eyes widened.

"We need to sedate her!" the male medic yelled.

But before either could stick a needle into her arm, Carolina jolted up and ripped all of the wires off of her arm. The woman who was hit by the mask was still taken aback, but the other doctor was on Carolina in seconds.

Carolina let out a terrified breath the second the man's arms wrapped around her arms to stop her from moving. Her hands shook as she frantically searched for a way to flee.

She quickly realized that the doctor seemed to forget that she could still use her head. Carolina forcefully swung her head back, hitting the man in the face with a loud crack.

Suddenly, more doctors rushed into the room to see what the commotion was about. Carolina inhaled sharply when more people she didn't recognize entered the room.

"Get away!" Carolina screamed. "Get away, now!"

She retreated a few steps back, accidentally knocking into the male doctor, who was bent over with a bloody nose. Carolina whipped around, staring at him for a moment before grabbing the back of his lab coat and pulling his back into her chest. She quickly wrapped her arm around his neck, causing all of the doctors to stop in their tracks.

"Carolina," one of the doctors said slowly, raising a hand in her direction cautiously. "Let him go."

Carolina shook her head frantically.

"Where am I?" Carolina asked, tightening her arm around the bleeding man.

"You are on a hovercraft," the medic said. "We are heading to District 13. You're safe now."

"No," Carolina looked around the room, her breath growing heavier. "No, that's a lie. This is just another trap."

"This isn't a trap," the doctor said, taking a step forward.

"That– that's exactly what Marsh said," Carolina stuttered, tears beginning to form in her eyes. In seconds, they were fully formed and rushing down her face uncontrollably. "And my mom. And my dad. And– and Charlie."

"Carolina, let Dr. Hartman go, and I will explain everything to you."

Carolina shook her head again but just as she did, Dr. Hartman started to push back in her arms, trying to escape her grasp. In a panic, Carolina released the man.

He turned over his shoulder to look at her, and began to lift a hand. Carolina gasped, bracing herself for whatever punishment he would inflict upon her. But she was quicker than he was. In an instant she was on him, grabbing his head. His neck snapped seconds later.

Dr. Hartman collapsed to the floor and one of the doctors screamed. Carolina stared at his dead body with wide eyes.

He's not real. He was just another mutt.
