"Peeta, give me your knife," Beetee said the moment the three women were out of sight.

"What?" Peeta asked, his brows creasing in confusion.

"Just do it," Finnick said.

Peeta looked between Beetee and Finnick for a moment before handing the older man his weapon. Finnick grabbed the knife he had as well, handing it to Wiress. Wiress gave him a grateful smile and nodded, which was the most she had communicated to him since they were at the cornucopia.

Finnick watched as Wiress and Beetee wrapped their precious, golden wire around the knives. He didn't know if the placement of the wires had to be specific in order for their plan to work, but Finnick decided to trust them.

He kept his back to the District 3 tributes as they worked, holding his trident at the ready in case Cashmere and Gloss decided to show themselves. Peeta did the same on the other side of the clearing.

Carolina was on his mind the entire time. He knew her inside and out. It was suspicious to him when she agreed to help kill Cashmere and Gloss almost right away. She was up to something. Something that could ruin their entire plan.

Suddenly, a loud shock buzzed from behind him, and Finnick quickly turned around, finding Beetee on the floor convulsing. There was no cannon, so the man was still alive. But for how long?

Finnick rushed over, thinking about the plan Plutarch had told them all about. If Beetee was ever going to be saved, he was going to need his tracker cut out.

Apparently, Wiress had the same idea. She rushed over to Beetee's body with Finnick's knife tight in her grip. She created a huge gash in his arm, big enough for the tracker to dislodge.

But the second the knife hit Beetee's body, an electrical current instantly moved through the metal and straight into Wiress's body. Wiress was thrown back. The second her figure hit the ground, a cannon boomed.

Finnick took a step back, horrified by what he had just witnessed. But his shock quickly subsided the second he heard Carolina's scream.

"Cash! Gloss!"

He sprinted towards her voice, moving faster than he had ever before, leaving Peeta alone by the lightning tree. The sound of Carolina's screams only drove him to move quicker, pushing through any vine or bush that were in his path. Suddenly, he crashed into Carolina's running figure, and he allowed himself to calm down.

"Lina," Finnick said. "It's happening. It's happening."

He grabbed Carolina's face, using the touch to provide him with the slightest bit of comfort. Carolina was still alive. The woman he loved was still alive.

And if he wanted to keep her that way, he had to move fast.

"Give me your arm," Carolina said, and Finnick gave it to her instantly.

He bit the inside of his cheek when her blade dug into his skin, but he welcomed the pain. It meant he was one step closer to being free. One step closer to being free with the love of his life. His tracker fell out of his arm, and his mind went straight to getting Carolina's out as well.

"Now give me yours," Finnick said, motioning to Carolina's arm.

That was when the explosion happened.

Lightning struck, and Finnick's eyes went to the sky, and he watched as the sky began to fall in on itself. When he looked back to Carolina, she had already run a couple yards away from him, and her eyes were wildly scanning the area around them.

"Cash!" she screamed again. "Gloss! Where are you?"

She started to run again, and Finnick began to panic.
