"Mom! I'm going to be late for school!" Ivy shouts as she grabs her homework, shoving it into her purple rucksack. She slides her feet into her shoes and grunts in frustration at the lack of movement coming from Liv's bedroom. She is never late. "Mom!" She shouts again, louder this time.
Liv wakes with a jolt. She is on her stomach with her face pressed comfortably into Elliot, her mouth is wide open and though she would never admit it– she has been drooling on him. She wipes his chest with her hand and looks at the clock next to her bed. "Shit," she mumbles, scrambling to get out of bed. "El, wake up."
"What's going on?" he asks groggily, tiredly.
"I hate to ask but we are late– can you please take Ivy to school," she begs, "Like right now?"
Elliot looks at his watch and sits upright. "Sure," he smiles, getting out of bed and pulling on yesterday's clothes at a leisurely pace.
"Now!" Liv says seriously, wrapping herself in her sheet and opening the bedroom door for him. "Mornin' baby girl," she smiles sweetly at her daughter. Her hair is wild and she is naked– bar the sheet. Ivy's eyes widen as Elliot exits the bedroom. "Your father is going to take you to school today, 'kay?"
"Uh s-sure," Ivy says, watching him kiss Liv on the forehead and slide into his boots.
"Ready to go kiddo?" he asks, opening the front door and ushering her out. She doesn't know what to say. She met her father for the first time last night and sure– she was so damn happy, but he spent the night?
"Did you have sex with my mom?" she asks him as they walk to the elevator of the apartment building.
He coughs awkwardly, the question catching him off guard. "Did I, what?"
"Have sex with my mother," she says blankly, shifting her bag on her shoulder. "It's a simple yes or no, Elliot."
Elliot? Last night she called me dad. He thinks to himself as they catch the elevator down to the car park. "I did," he says, matter of factly.
"I see, and what are your intentions with her?" Ivy asks seriously. She likes Elliot, she does. But she's a big girl now and all she can think of is him sleeping with her fragile mother and leaving, again.
"Listen, kid. We reconnected for the first time in fourteen years," he says, unlocking his car for her.
"So she was just a one night stand again?" Ivy asks angrily, climbing into the front seat of his SUV.
"I don't know, kid. I haven't thought that far ahead," He sighs, starting the engine and pulling out of the space he had been parked in.
"Just so you know," Ivy says, staring out of the window. "If you hurt her again– I will never ever forgive you."
The rest of the drive is made in silence. Ivy doesn't even say goodbye to him and he sighs. This is not how he wanted to spend his time getting to know his new child– after missing out on all of her life so far. He pulls out his phone, messaging Liv.
Ivy hates me.
Who is this?
Oh, right. You don't have my number anymore. It's Elliot.
She doesn't hate you. Did you get her to school on time?
Yeah. She told me if I hurt you, she will never forgive me. And then she ignored me the whole drive to school.
Liv chuckles to herself as she slides her phone in her pocket, walking into work. "Sorry I'm late guys," she says, having had a quick shower and made herself presentable for the day.
"Saw you leavin' with Elliot last night," Fin smirks, following her into her office. "And he didn't even come and say hello to me, the son-of-a-bitch."
Liv laughs, sitting down at her desk. She has that in-love after-sex glow about her and Fin can tell. "I guess I'm going to be seein' him some more?" He raises his brow and Liv looks at him, trying not to smile.
"I hope so, Fin. I hope so."
